Sonic Blast is worth trying on a Defender. The damage isn't much lower than on a Corrupter, but the Res debuffs are significantly better from both your primary and secondary.
Plus the extra surviaibility from the Th Hit debuffs in Dark Misama are better on a Defender.

That said, I've got a mid-40s Sonic/Energy blaster, and taking GW's patron pool gives me enough cones that I can just cone stuff to death all day if I want. Also pretty nice. They're both good combos really, and Screech's stun stacks with stuns from either of the other two powersets, and Oppressive Gloom out of the epic/patron.

The sonic/dark corr would probably be all around better. I have a sonic/em blaster, though, and it is pretty fun. Power boost doesn't help with -res, but it does help with stun and sleep durations which help make the combo exceptionally survivable for a blaster while soloing.
My main is a sonic/EM and I love it.
You can solo pretty effectively by hitting each group with Sirens Song then picking off each mob with Screech, Bonesmashers and Total Focus.
For team PvE, the Howl cone is a great AoE.
And when I'm bored it's fun to just use Power Thrust to send grays flying around in AP.
Hey,
I'm interested in rolling a survivable and deadly ranged character and I really want to give the sonic attack primary a serious go.
Which do you think would do better:
Sonic/EM blaster for the superior blaster ranged damage and EM's little goodies (powerboost = MASSIVE res debuff and boost range to make the cones more practical)
OR
Sonic/Dark cor for the pet, tar patch (additional -res + crowd control when siren's is down) and just generally better damage mitigation.
