No Patch Announced for Today?

Did I miss one somewhere, or is there just going to be maintenance? From the sounds of Clockwork01 the failed(lack of) launch of Converters was due to a minor oversight, was hoping it'd be fixed today.(Or yesterday, or tuesday afternoon....). If there isn't a patch today then there won't be til at least next tuesday. i22 had several bugs.....

That's sadly the nature of the beast. Major patches to MMO's almost always contain a variety of bugs. The best we can hope for is that there won't be game breakers (and yes, I'm aware that this one has a few that are game-breakers for some.)

Unless there's a major bug, you shouldn't expect a patch a mere 2 days affter an Issue Launch. Give it a week or two. They'll most likely be rolling it in with other bug fixes.
Under all past circumstances I would agree and I accept it is my extreme desire for converters may be coloring my view on this matter HOWEVER

An item was announced as part of the issue, Enhancement Converters, and not having them in the game is a pretty big gaffe.

Not as big or as critical as if they had released them and they didn't work properly but it is still big. I cannot recall the last time an actual announced part of a release was a no-show when the issue released.

It makes them look very foolish so I am surprised they didn't bust a move to get them in.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Considering that the problem was a setting that made them work on beta but not on the live servers, it's very likely that this wasn't discovered until QA was doing their post-patch testing, if not later. So I think we can probably hold back on the "looking foolish" comments.

Wow . . . . a bug that didnt turn up for a single item until the release day and so instead of delaying the issue a few more days to put it in they say "next patch for it" is making them foolish?

This game will always have bugs. Longstanding bugs. Brand new bugs. Bugs that come about while fixing other bugs.

You have to chose between two of the three: Lots of content, cheap, bug-free.

If you prioritize bug free, then expect to pay $60 a month or expect just one issue a year.

Nature of the beast for MMOs.

As long as staff gets a rolled up newspaper it will always be superior to beast mastery.

I've debated the quality of their software previously in this thread.

I'm not going to rehash it again here except to say that as much as I look forward
to what they'll add to the game, I cringe equally much wondering what they're
going to break next, due to abysmal (or non-existent) testing procedures.

I-22 fully lives up to my expectations in that regard.

'Nuff said.

Okay, so as long as they come out before Issue 23, everything's cool. Got it.

And as far as the patch goes: it isn't going to just be a hotfix for the converters. There's gonna be other stuff in there, so it has to go through the full process. QA needs to verify that the patch doesn't break the game and that the fixes are actually working. Once they get done, it goes to publishing. Also, our dev team doesn't like to patch on Fridays and likes to give us some sort of notice that a patch is forthcoming. So Unless they've really pushed to get this one out the door, the earliest I'd wager seeing it is Tuesday.

lol

I meant that if they showed up for a tech interview in the company I work for,
we'd spend a lot of time drilling down through testing - bugs in the entertainment
business don't get hundreds of people killed or get your company millions of dollars
in regulatory fines.

That kinda matters....

Here, it's mostly irritating.
