Edited: I read that Staff is not out yet so not sure what I want to play yet. I may just keep using my 50 SJ/Ice to see how it performs on a large team.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
I honestly don't think people avoided teaming with stalkers.... they (and I) did avoid playing them, though.
I'm planning a KM stalker now.

The proc is only supposed to grant you one critical status once every 10s. However, since the proc functions like an "auto buff" power, you may not always within the 10s timer so you'll need your next attack chain to get the critical status. All and all, you should get a critical within 15s.
The old bug is to fix duplicating proc that may put you back into hidden status before an assassin strike goes off, even though you did not use placate. I know some people claim they can get a critical every single time an assassin strike lands but that's not how it's supposed to happen. Their attack chains could be longer than 10s and that's why they are seeing it 100% chance.

I got a couple of place holder characters right now holding names for this. Once staff is live I will roll these characters. In the mean time I am going to still keep working towards getting more ATOs for stalkers.

Synapse said it should be easier now but I haven't tested the new change. I also don't know if the new change has made it to today's patch.

it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

I went with STJ/NIN. The improvements are indeed gratifying.Coupled with the new ATO set I for once feel pretty strong on teams as a Stalker. Nice job COH, & two thumbs up.

I always used to get bored of playing stalkers around the 30s as they felt pretty much like one trick ponies. The change has really been good for the AT. Made a Elec Melee/Energy Aura and have not been disappointed. It just keeps getting better and better.
It's so great to be solo stalking again. Not just the stalker love but all the recent qol changes, especially faster early run speed and stamina.
I've started over from 1 again and am speeding radios and I am actually enjoying Mayhems (I don't care that you can see me now come and get me jerk).
At some point I will be attempting something I have never done on a stalker before: Raids.
I've been playing my NB/Elec like crazy. I used to be "meh" on Stalkers having played and generally enjoyed an elec/nin to 50 but totally despising the very concept of resistance based Stalkers. That is no more. This guy is very quickly becoming a favorite of mine. His survivability is through the roof, having capped energy resist and very high SL resist as well as moderate defense to everything and soft-capped defense to melee and lethal thanks to Divine Avalanche. All at level 27. Having slotted Stalker's Guile in AS, I've found a new love for the AT.
The absolute insane ST damage this guy puts out is just jaw dropping sometimes. I open with AS for a free kill then immediately follow it up with a crit from Soaring Dragon on the next nearest enemy for another free kill. Knock out a few quick attacks on the next guy in preparation for an automatic crit from AS which then has a good chance of leading me right back into a free crit from Soaring Dragon.
I can't wait to get it up to a higher level so I can beat down something tougher and see how it fares.
One of the odd things to come out of the Stalker changes is that I hardly ever use Hide anymore. The ATO proc puts you in Hidden even if you've not got it toggled on, and ASing when not in Hide is better for my KM Stalker (AS>(proc)>CS(buildup) is so much fun).
FUN STORY:
I formed a team that ended up with 3 stalkers or so. At first I was worried because they were mostly single target. And then I learned, put a few ST stalkers together and they are AoE. Also, minions and lts are beneath me. |
They think Scrapper/Brute can easily replace Stalker.
Well, even if mathematically Stalker is still a bit under-performed, the new change certainly makes Stalker very interesting and fun! I think that alone means something. And in honesty, not all Brute and Scrapper combos have great aoe. There are DM/SR builds that don't have much aoe either and some Stalker combos do have decent aoe (Elec/Spine).
I can't wait to team with other Stalkers to see the true potential of the stalker change. I never felt Stalker is useless. I just think Stalker wasn't doing enough damage (especially in ST department) and suffers a lot of penalties.
And if you are on a large team, there's probably too much aoe thrown around. Those trash minions don't hold much threat any way. But I do believe every primary should have at least one pbaoe. Having none is a design problem IMO. For a set to have zero aoe, each ST attack needs to come out so hard and fast to make up for it.

i havent had a chance to run with my elec energy stalker thats been sitting at 50 for awhile, but i have played around with my kin melee ninjitsu stalker and hes amazing to play, even at like lvl 35 i can get an AS crit for close to 1000 dmg (double BU + AS ftw lol)

I have always felt this way too. I think thats what we will see in the future, those single target only sets will get changed to add a cone or 2 just so it works out to be fair.

I enjoy Martial Arts and while each kick hits pretty hard, it is still on the slow side. The DPA is still not high enough except for Storm Kick. I really hope they can improve DPA on Axe, Crane, Cobra and Eagle. Or they can add something similar to Gravity Control's Impact to allow MA truly shine in ST department. I feel Street Justice has very similar ST damage while having two pbaoe. That is just not fair and I can't understand why the dev would take out the only pbaoe.

My fellow stalkers today is a glorious day. It usher's in a new age where we are no longer referred to as "lol stalkers". Where we can sit at the table as equals with our other melee counter parts. No longer shall we be passed over for trials, tfs or any special event. No longer are we just given pity spots so we can team. We can for the first time truely make a difference on a team. While we still have a ways to go for perfection as an arch-type we are no longer a lost cause that was worth fighting for. I say to you all go forth and be the best stalker you can be and show teams what we are made of.
So what will you be playing in issue 22?
