The old link is no longer active.
If we can get two or three other Mac users to try this and say it works, I'll ask my good friends at Titan to find a place for it.

Well, it would work if it didn't force me to subscribe in order to download. I hate these download service sites, so I refuse to subscribe. I've just been updating my Mid's by the method mentioned above with the Plist editing.

It's not so much subscribing as a simple registration. I've never gotten any emails or solicitations from the Titan Network except the registration verification email and emails associated with trying to reset my password.

Use a dummy account if you must. They are simple to create on Hotmail, Yahoo or GMail.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I think he was referring to the DL link in the previous post, not the Titan network site. The first time I tried to DL the file, it told me I needed to buy a subscription. For whatever reason I decided to try again, and was finally allowed to DL it.

Aside from the missing power lists for Primary, Secondary, Pool, and Incarnate, it seems to be functional, if a bit awkward to use. It's unfortunate that we can't get that fixed, but it's better than nothing.

I just picked one of the suggestions that Texas Justice gave earlier in this thread. If you have a better suggestion or think one of the other sites is less hassle, then I'd be happy to upload it there instead.

If you enable pop-ups, it will show you what you're hovering over.

I am going to try to look into the graphics not showing up glitch, but that might take a few months so in the mean time this will have to do. I'm currently having some important deadlines at my work, and that's what I need to focus on.

Ah. Thanks, I guess I did misunderstand.

Although, I've never been told I needed to buy a subscription when I've downloaded from filefactory, only that I could get faster speeds if I subscribed.

Works fine for me, at least once I got it downloaded - took three or four tries before that worked, but it eventually did.

Thanks, all; even with the few graphics flaws, this is much appreciated.

Out of curiosity, has there been any updates with this? Obviously not counting Hybrid, but any changes regarding the graphics issue? Or putting it on the Titan Network?

Awesome software to use, works perfectly on the Mac, but I have a problem.

Everytime I try to export my builds here, the paste doesn't work. Nothing shows up. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone care to tell me how to paste builds from MidsHeroDesigner to the forums? Thanks.

Come on, guys! Wanna post my Builds here too. A little help, please?

Yes, I also can no longer export data builds, although I used to be able to ... a month ago? I assume the Apple update for the flashback security hole spanked this as well as creating the printing crash?

I can't believe this thread hasn't been stickied yet. I still run into mac users who don't even know we have access to MIDs now.

Sooo... Who do I ask for a sticky?

Is the issue with list items not showing up fixed?

Is anyone bothering to keep the build updated?

Is there a central, reliable location to download the most recent build?

Until each of those questions can be answered with a "Yes", I'm keeping the cork on the champaign.

One of the Community Team such as Hit Streak, Freitag or Zwellnoiwontspellhisnameright.

From everything we heard from the Mid's official team, its code is even worse than that of the base editor, and they very much doubt they can find a way to fix that on the Mac port (at least I read it that way) but frankly, I don't find that such a hassle - at least you can select them by mouseover.

the issue of the popup windows are more annoying, especially for the Incarnate powers, but even on that front I still consider this port more than useable.

I know I am, since anyone can do it. It requires a small five-step-process and uses the same update packages as teh PC version.

Not that I know of, but maybe if more people know of this we could find someone with some room on a website and willing to lend it to us for storage. I'd be willing to keep the versions updated as new builds come up.

I don't have a website of my own currently but I'm working on fixing that, so hey, maybe I'll end up taking care of it if no one else does and the MID's people and U Dark don't mind.

Considering the wait we had for any port and the remarkable work U Dark did to provide us with one, I'm not only uncorking, I'd have sent him a couple bottles already if international shipping didn't make it so ludicrously expensive.

Request sent to Freitag. He had the shortest name and I was feeling lazy.

PROTIPS: Type the first few letters of the name and find the name in the drop down list. For example type "Hit " (without the quote, they are there to show the space after Hit) and select Hit Streak (first entry on the list). Type Zwil and his name is the only result. You have to get to freit to make the short list.

Also, you can go to the Community Digest, select one of their posts, click their name in the box on the left and select "Send a private message to" and you can do it without having to spell their name at all.

AHAHAHAH EEET'S ALIVE!

Thanks U_dark and RogerWilco, and to the Titan team for Mids!

I too have the mysterious missing power lists but this is a sight better than trying to run Mids on my ancient Windows desktop with no RAM or processor power. Hopefully you guys can chase down the bug and squash it.

So happy.

So very happy.

Squee.

Is there any updates since the last one in May? To include staff fighting and what not? Or will there be anyone providing a newer version?

Sentinel, the instructions for updating Mids inside the wrapper are upthread:

1) Run the update function in Mid's Hero Designer and download the MXDSetup1-954.exe file
1) Go to MidsHeroDesigner.app
2) Right-click on it and select "Show Package Contents"
3) Open a second Finder window, go to wherever you've downloaded MXDSetup1-954.exe and drag it from there to drive_c/Program Files/Titan Network
4) Open Contents/Info.plist in the Property List Editor
5) Change the "Program Name and Path" from
/Program Files/Titan Network/Mids Hero Designer/Hero Designer.exe
to
/Program Files/Titan Network/MXDSetup1-954.exe
6) Save and close everything
7) Run MidsHeroDesigner.app, instead of Mid's it will now run the installer.
8) Click Next until it's Finished.
9) Right-click on MidsHeroDesigner.app and do "Show Package Contents" again.
4) Open Contents/Info.plist in the Property List Editor
5) Change the "Program Name and Path" from
/Program Files/Titan Network/MXDSetup1-954.exe
back to
/Program Files/Titan Network/Mids Hero Designer/Hero Designer.exe

This got me the new version of Mid's.

Apparently the update installer doesn't do anything fancy. This was easier than I thought.

I don't have a place to upload the new version to or I could zip it and provide it.
Just substitute "mxdsetup1-954.exe" for whatever the current version is - 1-960 at the time I'm writing this. You can also edit the info.plist in Text Edit with no problem; you don't need the property list editor.

Happy building.

I have started using this in Snow Leopard and it works pretty well. Lists of powers are invisible, but mousing over them shows what you're about to pick, so that's an easy workaround. Picking an ancillary/patron power pool is a little tricky, as I think the list needs to be dragged a bit to reveal the final two powers, but I think I can jimmy it and get it to work.

The one thing that seems to be broken is that there's no way to drag a slot, so if I make a mistake I have to start over from scratch (Shift click doesn't work). Is there an easy way to edit the source file to move slots around?
