I love the show. The concept, the characters, the writing (most of the time) and the actors are great. I love the casting of the guest stars. It has been my favorite show during its entire run . . .

But I think "Chuck" had its run. Shows based upon "romantic tension" almost always run out of steam (pun intended) within one or two seasons after letting the main characters get together/married. I will certainly miss the show, but I would rather see it go out well than see it fumble around with mediocre episodes. I think the writing was starting to struggle with good stories. There were some great moments, but the overall stories were struggling. (I think my single favorite funniest moment in the show was Jeffster playing "Push It" in the maternity ward.)

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I somewhat agree but I don't know if it struggled. It isn't brilliant or something one would consider a critical success. It is fun. It is Big Bang Theory meets James Bond (kinda haha). It seems like a show that would never stand a chance but the characters and cast (including many guests) made it work.

I see how they did leave it wide open for additional shows if need be and it wasn't really the happily ever after ending. Close to that but not exactly. Anyway, I'd be happy to see more

I just couldn't see Chuck come back as a series... But I would love a reunion movie five years from now or something.

This! As long as they make some decent TV Movie events of Chuck, I will be happy! Or maybe even a big screen movie, make it decent, don't make it look like a TV Movie on the big screen, and see if it can lead to a franchise or just be a one time movie the fans pick up.

I think the time was right for it to end. It was a good run but I'd rather it end while I'm still fond of it and before it became a chore to watch, and for me it was trending in that direction.

I'll sign a petition for a tv movie to wrap up that which was not wrapped up, but not to continue an ongoing series.

I would actually have preferred it to go out on a low note. To wind down and become a chore to watch.

Here is my reasoning. I wish there were more Firefly episodes. It sucks that they canceled the series. I also wish there were more Defying Gravity, Star Gate Universe, Angel and some others.

On the other hand I don't care if I ever see another Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, Babylon 5, or Highlander. That is because all of these series either became a chore to watch at the end, or in the case of Galactica made me throw things at the television.

I really miss series that went out on a high note. On the other hand with series that just sort of died I still love watching the early episodes, but I don't miss the series no longer being on the air. If Chuck had ended while Morgan was still the intersect I wouldn't have missed it at all.

Heroes, Babylon5, and others gone on too long and if Chuck had another season or two, then it would suffer from the same effect as those shows. Shows like Defying Gravity, Stargate Universe, Firefly, and Dark Angel still had momentum and should have lasted for longer.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

defying Gravity was awesome. i really got into that show just like i did V.
was upset when they both got cancelled.
but i would loved to have seen chuck go at least 1 more season so sarah could get memories back like they were.
but thats just my opinion.

Pfft. The only momentum SGU had was from it's 2 season fall from grace to it's well deserved cancellation. Out of 40 episodes you can count on one hand the ones that weren't painful to watch. The writers of that show should have been punished for crimes against humanity.

I enjoyed the chemistry between characters. It worked. Not the most sophisticated or clever series but it was entertaining. It did seem to slow down a bit.

The finale was different so bravo for that. It was not really cliche and not the typical happy ending. I had mixed feelings about it but it did impact viewers so that's good

It'd be nice to see a made for TV movie come out in a year and every so often. I think 5 years is too long

Wait, wait, wait. I've seen it twice in this thread now. Babylon 5 went on too long? What? Five seasons is too long?

The show was actually written to specifically span five seasons (corresponding roughly to the five years prior to shut-down), so it wasn't even like they were even pulling another season out of their butts. I don't understand how B5 went too long.

Actually pulling another season out of their butts is exactly what they did. The arc was set for 5 seasons. Then in the fourth season they were told that it was going to be cancelled, that season 4 would be their last. So Straczynski squeezed the plotline for season 5 in with season 4. That's why 4 seemed so much more rushed than the others.

Then season 4 ended and the studio said. "Guess what guys? We're going to give you another season." so Straczynski had to come up with another plot line that would last one season.

My understanding of it (based on the script-books) was that he kept his series notes and outline with him when traveling and the hotel staff at a convention ended up throwing them out. Then one of the few major plot threads he could remember was Byron, who was originally planned to serve as a love interest to Ivanova ... but then Claudia Christian didn't renew her contract.

That's what JMS wrote anyway.
