There has to be a better way to respec a character
I could type out a long winded story about respecing or creating new a build. But I think anyone who has more then 2 toons and / or has done a few respecs of their toons knows what I am about to discuss.
There just has to be a better way when a player has 20+ toons to look through all this stuff to see if you have the IOs and salvage you need. When you come to think about it, the initial creation or the respec of a build should not be the game. It should not waste hours of your time looking through toons and moving stuff around. The game should be about playing and not house keeping. Now I will say Mia culpa for my part in all of this. But without a doubt the devs also have a hand in this mess as well. Again the build or respec should not feel like the chore it does now. With the intro of the market I can honestly say I would pay to have the ability to organize and access my IOs and salvage across my all my toons either per server or per side. Just anything would be better then what is in place now. |
I would like a build process option similar to Mids. It would apply to secondary builds and respecs. You can choose wether you want to choose powers then slots or go in the original order.
I too would pay, though I would like it to just be that way, to have all my toons salvage, receipies and so on to be sever or global. Can we also have the market available on the CoH website. Sometimes all I wanna know is if I bid on a certain item, do I have it yet? That, or make the trading post a sever thing. So, all my toon buy/sell in one place.
I still havent respeced my main into free stamina because its more effort than its worth to me.
Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.
It's never taken me *hours* to respec, but the process is rather tedious. It's especially irksome when all I really want to do is remove one of my last few power picks.

Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be

If you buy the 2 extra rows of enhancement trays you can strip 30 IOs at a time when respeccing. Was totally worth it for me.
I definitely agree. Due to each powers individual needs, I have to make a text file and manually keep track of what has how many slots where and what I put in them just to change a few powers around.

I don't know about "looking through toons and moving stuff around" as by and large salvage is cheap enough that I just buy whatever I need from the market when I need it, and almost nobody plays in my SG anymore so I can use base storage for anything I craft without worrying someone might take it.
But boy is that current respec process annoying. Aside from the fact that it's all-or-nothing (really annoying when you realize you've just 3-slotted a power you only meant to 2-slot and you have to respec every power and every slot to fix your mistake), but it also scrambles your power trays and you have to spend ages dragging everything back into place.
I agree, I'd love to see a more Mids-like interface where you can spec out your powers and slots all at once, instead of having to rebuild one thing at a time.
