Anyone else have a problem with Invention Coupons?

I just used an Inventtion Coupon to craft a purple recipe, which should have meant it cost me 450,000 to craft. However, when I checked my Infamy afterward, I had lost the full 600,000.

Anyone else had an issue with the coupons not working?

I used three more Invention Discount Coupons last night and in every case I was charged the full amount for crafting the invention.

I'm curious whether this is happening to others as well.

I also wanted to warn folks, though maybe 150,000 inf (the max you can be overcharged) isn't that big of a deal to anyone besides me.

What what? What is an invention coupon? How do they work? What is the benefit of one? This is the first I have ever heard of these things...

I never thought it wouldn't work so I haven't paid attention. I'll keep it in mind the next time I craft a purple on a character with the discount selected but I've pretty well used them up as I moved my 50s to getting the Vanguard and Cimeroa day jobs and accolades.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Invention Discount Coupons are special "salvage" items you earn after you have the Profiteer (red side) or Entrepreneur (blue side) Day Job Accolades. Once you've earned the Accolade, you earn one Coupon for every 24 hours logged out at Wents/the BM, or at the ferry (red), or in a store (blue).

Each coupon is supposed to give you a 25% discount off the cost of crafting a recipe, which for purples is a savings of 150,000 inf.

Yeah, I just tried it myself and it didn't work. The UI shows the price change but even with it selected, you still get charged the full price. I used the invention table from field crafter. What were you using mousedroid?

They have never worked for me and because the discount (in affect) is so small I've just stop trying to use them. I assumed it was a known problem.

I've never actually watched how much was really subtracted from my bank. Usually, by the time a character finally gets enough day job time in for the accolade, I'm pretty well off. Good pick up on the bug!

It didn't work for me either. I used the invention table in Uni. Since it doesn't work, I won't log out at the ferry and will log out somewhere else instead. Thanks for the heads up!

According to Support, they were not able to verify a game error after reviewing the game logs, so they would not give me back the infamy I lost, or the coupons.

So fair notice - if you use Invention Discount Coupons for the foreseeable future, you're wasting them.

Jade, just out of curiousity - what alignment was the character you tried this on? Villain, Rogue, Vigilante, or Hero?

Like many others, I've never actually verified that they work.

I see the change in the UI and assumed it did the proper math when crafted.

I'd be inclined to think it's a pretty recent bug though -- As data-inclined as
we tend to be in this section of the forums, I'd have thought somebody would
have checked it when it was first released several issues back.

If I think about it, I'll test it on a couple of my toons over the wkend -- it should
definitely be bugged and brought to the dev's attention if it's not working.

I filed a bug report right after I petitioned to get my infamy back. Hopefully the bug report will have more traction.

And earning the Bug Hunter Badge would certainly be worth the lost infamy.

Villain, in Cap Uni. Here's the test with Eff Adaptor end mod/end

1,800,000,000-1,799,509,600 = 490,400 which is the cost WITHOUT the coupon.

I too have confirmed (and bugged) the fact that Invention Discount Coupons
are not providing an actual discount when crafting an IO.

I crafted a couple of purple recipes I had laying around with the discount coupons
being used.

The crafting price still ended up being 600K (rather than 450K) despite having
the coupons removed as part of the crafting process. The UI did show the 450K
discount price, but 600K was actually taken when each IO was crafted.

Presumably, it will get noted in the Live Issues list and get fixed in some future patch.

At least, I hope so -- it's clearly a bug.
