Wait, TPN *crashes* too?

I get it. It's actually a joke. Makes sense now.

Whoever's behind these Incarnate Trials is actually just toying with us in TPN: with the control they have over us, they can give us whatever cheesy crap they want because we have no choice but to run after it like starving piranhas. First, there's the epic griefability that somehow got under the supervisor's radar (I've heard of sleeping on the job, but someone ended up approving something without even waking up). And then there's the angry housewives killing us with dinner rolls, hilighting the ludicrous hoops they've set up for us to jump through like some kind of condescending Subway advertisement...

And now, apparently, when Maelstrom appears for the final fight he just terminates the whole event, mapserves the entire League and all attempts to rejoin won't work because the instance has crashed. I even got this little gem of nonsense for my troubles:

This lasted for four or five minutes after... well, you know, after we were punished for running TPN. I've never seen that before--logging into an account with an active character immediately logs the character out. It's like the server is trying to reprimand me for having run TPN in the first place.

The only thing left that can make this worse for players than Enhancement Diversification is if the devs come out and laugh at us, saying "we tried to tell you not to but you did it anyway."

Yeah. I've run this trial twice thinking it was a fluke or how we run it the first time that made it bug out, and I foolishly went into this thinking it'd end differently. We petitioned it and it got escalated to "senior staff" or something and we still haven't heard from them since. I think at the least we deserve our rewards for these trials going so poorly at the FINAL FIGHT before the end.

This happens very rarely, I believe when either the instance/zone your character was in has crashed, or your last known location has somehow become corrupt. I've had this happen to me once, I asked CuppaJo for help (this shows you how long ago it happened) and she told me to give it half an hour or see and if it fails, to petition Customer Support. Turns out it only lasted about 20 minutes or so.

I think the worst part is that we were about to win. we had Maelstrom out for the third time, with an excellent league of people who were tearing it apart. HD's health was never below 80% the entire time, and the group was rearing to go... Was darned good for the first time I have led one of these.

I also think it was closer to 15 minutes. I had time to attempt to log in umpteen times, actually log in on another toon and come back to the same message on -Michael, then go in and prepare some coating for chicken, come back to the same message and reset my entire system before it let us back on....

...and while I know that I'll get the badges and run this again in the future, cause I AM stubborn that way, I also know there is no way I can claim to have led every iTrial to a win on my first time leading it anymore... That was taken away from me thanks to a stupid bugged Mass booting of my entire league

I can't get that back. There went my braggin' rights

Last time I saw that message, I tricked out a teleporter and was outside Pocket D at an illegal jump address. took em a month to get it fixed for me.

Yeah, this happened to a league I was on about three nights ago or so. I thought it was just a fluke, so I'm a bit alarmed to see that it's obviously a bug specific to the TPN trial, which occurs just as the final fight is about to ensue. I know some of the league members sent in petitions, but I didn't bother, so I'm not sure how the petitions turned out. My best guess would be a "Tough Luck" reply -- more politely worded, of course.

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.

1387 badges, and counting

Yes. It was escalated to senior staff on our petitions and we still haven't heard from those guys since. So we don't even get a tough luck as of yet.

We were on Triumph working together smoothly and about to get our badges for TPN.. was a sure win.. I didn't do a petition, too many times i've been told only the leader of the trial or tf can submit it.. but..i've never ever asked for help and not had a gm come into the game & fix it right away.. till now. this was not a fluke on one toon, this was an entire league that went down and for about 15 minutes we got that message that the toon we had been on was still logged on and so we couldn't log back onto it.. (a new one to me and i've been here for years. i went to another server.. when i logged off that toon instead of coming back to the screen to select a server. it threw me back to the Triumph Server and i logged back onto the toon i'd been on.. i hit lfg and got thrown out.. and wasnt sure if it was cuz the tf ended or what.. but then realized the entire league was showing up one by one and we all had the same thing happen.. I'm hopin this will be fixed and restitution will be made to give us the badges we'd earned. It's become my expectaton from past experience.. don't let me down now.

We had twice as many toons in the league than in the picture. We, I think, were about to be only the SECOND ever successful TPN on our server (down to last defeat of Maelstorm). Then BAM! A very nasty bug hit the whole league. Then we decided the civilians in the trial were correct and we had to #OccupyPocketD

Then I was like

Allow me to help: tough luck. That's the message we got (I was on the trial with GuyPrefect).

You didn't complete the trial, so you don't get the rewards. It's as simple as that. Yeah, you were really close and it would have been a cakewalk, but you still didn't finish.

From December 11 (This was the first time, to my knowledge Fusion Force, myself, and a few other players tried TPN):

Fusion Force, and a few of our allies on Triumph, had our first TPN Campus trial tonight, and we ran across a pretty significant bug.

We were using the strategy posted by Winterminal here: the 2nd post in the thread.

We were doing quite well and had made it to the final confrontation with Maelstrom, when suddenly many (all?) of us lost connection to the mapserver, and eventually disconnected back to the log-in screen.

When we tried to log back in we would receive a message that were were already logged in. Then when we could reach the character screen and try to log in our particular character it would say were were in the process of logging out.

A few minutes later when we finally got back in, and clicked LFG and Rejoin the Trial, we were put into a Sewer Mission where you fight Desdemona!

The entire league had been disbanded, but the weirdest thing was we were on an entirely different mission!

It almost looked like a Morality or Tip mission that featured Desmadona. But the entire League was in it. Solo. We reformed.

It was very bizarre. Quite a spectacular bug. A few /bugs and /petitions were sent.

Sadly it was too late for everyone to run another.

My first impression was TPN is very fun! Looking forward to completing it.

Fusion Force did have a completely successful run of TPN on the 19th, but I was already committed to another group.

I think some people on our TPN had their iXP rolled back, but I at least had the Astrals and threads that I had obtained during the trial (others didn't have the 60 Threads and probably not the Astrals either).

I was also on this TPN Trial as well and the same thing happend just 2 weeks before this one. The same situation occured except when the league re-entered we were ported in some poor guy's lvl 8 mission. The majority of the league petitioned and we got the same, "Tough Luck" reply. You'd figure with all of these new shiny MMO's coming out customer support would be more empathetic in a response so they wouldn't lose customers.

We may have a lead as to what's causing the issue. To those who have experienced this bug, are you able to confirm whether the entire League was inside the station building immediately prior to the final battle?

Define "immediately", because on ours I know that at least some of the league (myself included) had exited VisualCorp before the crash happened (like you I also don't recall whether or not anyone was hosp'd at the time). I didn't quite manage to get around to the front of the main building but I definitely had the time to get away from the door and start moving, as did some others who were ahead of me.

I was on that particular TPN with you, and while I was able to move after the "teleported out of Visualcorp" thing, I don't believe it was actual movement, it was the kind of thing that happens when you've Mapserver'd and the game client hasn't realized it yet, so you're moving on the client but the server is just laughing derisively. I snapped back to the Visualcorp entrance (ie, the client realized the server wasn't accepting movement updates) before getting booted entirely.

This was the best part, IMO.

I was really disappointed when "rejoin last event" stopped putting me into random people's missions.

Just to toss out an anecdote, I was part of a TPN run on Infinity this weekend that was successful. It was my first, so I didn't know what the hell was going on. Anyway, I got tired of getting ganked by Maelstrom and was looking to get into the 3rd building. Most of the "interior" group was already in, so I was just trying to find it by clicking doors. I had finally spotted someone returning to the door, I assumed from the hospital, when Maelstrom one-shotted me again with his cheating tp-kick. I didn't go to the hospital immediately because someone else was trying to find the door, so I offered them my body as a waypoint. Maelstrom got him first. While I was waiting for him to get out of the hospital, the "interior" group finished and came out. So for this data point, our league was both inside and outside at the time the 3rd building's phase was completed. From then, it was just pile on Maelstrom along with learning how to avoid the Marked for Death gimmick and the Trial finished with no issues.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

But as I said, there were a few people ahead of me, which I could only have seen if the client were still communicating with the server.
