Look, I'm not going to rant about this trial in general. I don't think it's very hard outside the abrupt need for leaguemates to restrict what powers they use and what targets they attack, which is virtually non-existent in the rest of the game and therefore hard to get people to do.

I am going to rant about this change, though. Here you deprive people of a quite sensible tactic of using their powers to move these foes out of the immediate vicinity of the spawns of civilians they're in, which can allow safe use of AoE attacks on the Telepathists if the character happens to have a weak single-target attack chain.

There's a fine line in trying to get people to use a specific tactic and railroading them to do it one way. This smacks of railroading, and not many people enjoy the sense of being railroaded. Let me be clear. I do not believe this is going to make the trial significantly harder. I just feel it makes it more annoying. "You have these tactical options, but now they don't work by fiat." I learned not to do that to player in my tabletop gaming sessions when I was about eighteen, and have come to intensely dislike when it is done by others. Consider me an anti-fan of this change.

I haven't run the trial yet but couldn't the telepathists being highly resistant to intangible be an ok change, as it could allow players to intangible the civilians around them and let loose the dogs of AoE-war?

Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."

I was wondering the same about that and about Repel. Can a Repel effect (like the Force Field Teir 9) safely push people away from the Telepathist and leave them standing there alone?

I don't think this is fixed. At least not completely fixed. I used to play with "Dim All Windows" turned on and my opacity set to 100%, so they would be clear until I moused over them. It used to be that the opacity would slowly lower over time and I'd have to reset it occasionally.

When that one patch went live and seemed to break everything it changed so that having any window's dim setting on would cause all windows to be locked at 30% opacity no matter what you did. This still appears to be the case. So maybe it's more that the window dimming feature is broken and not the opacity.

Winter Event New!
  • The Winter Event Trial may crash shortly after its conclusion. Players are advised to exit the event as soon as the trial is completed to avoid a rollback of their event rewards.

Known?
As in you guys knew it was an issue before release?

Because it would have been nice to clue the players in before we leagued up to do this for Tanker Tuesday..... just sayin'

Also....
When we entered the WLT as a league, several members of the league were dropped.
This happened twice in a row.

Yup, got hit with the winter trial bug, as did a number of other league mates. Rather, less a 'crash' and more 'disconnected from the map server'. ;p

Really I'll just be happy if they just give me the badge, the trial really isn't worth re-running.

C'mon Devs. Remove intangibility as a mechanic completely from the game. It's where you're heading.
Nope. Arbiter Hawk wants to leave Dimension Shift as-is because he thinks it is great in PVP. He stated it to us on one of the coffee talks.

Aye bad form to be honest, first Winter Trial i led last night half our league [including me] DC'd from the server and lost our rewards [iirc was roughly 28 of us].
Being told to leave quickly but we all crashed the instant we killed the WL and the rewards popped up. No exit trial button was available.

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

User Interface

  • Setting UI colors/opacity should now properly save.[QUOTE]
And yet, it's still locked at 30% for every window that doesn't pop out of the nav bar.

Chat window, auction house, salvage, recipe, power, incarnate, power trays, pretty much the entire UI that isn't looked at for long enough to click the next mission option is still 30% and will not accept a change to any other value.

My first short story (detective fiction) came out in Jan-2012. Other stories and books to follow, I hope. Because of "real writing". COH was a big part of that happening.

Incarnate Rewards - The Underground
It will be easier for all players to achieve the requirements for the guaranteed Rare and Very Rare table at the end of the Underground. Please remember, however, that this is only offered to players present and working with the league for the entire trial.

I am still confused on what "present and working with the league for the entire trial" means.I ran it a week or so ago, with a ROB/FF MM,and at the end i got a common, yet I was there the entire time , used my bubbles, bots on attack mode, and had my leadership powers on to help with the final boss( They were on the whole TF except when i faceplanted).

It may be my perception, but it seems AT that are controller types(MM,Dom,Controllers) that get lesser rewards.yet my melee types (stalker, tank, scrappers) seem to get better rewards(when i face off with the AVs) if i do crowd control and take down NS and seige support troops mostly,i get lesser rewards also.Is there some kind of min damage or such that controls the reward given?, i must be doing at least enough to get reward and not just threads?

"Participation" is not based on damage dealt. This assertion is based both on past redname posts and on player testing.* It appears to be correlated with number of power activations per unit time of powers that have enemy hit rolls . Other factors that appear to matter are proximity to "active" teammates, and overall league success (which has other, much less clear scoring mechanisms).

The dependency on power activations/time means that pets and toggles don't count for much. When the "participation system" was first in play, Masterminds in particular had serious problems getting rewards. Something was changed which made it easier on them in other trials. Whether that was to somehow count what pets are doing or to simply lower the "activity" threshold for MMs (or everyone) is not clear. However, your best bet for getting a reward is to actively use direct-activation powers (meaning powers your MM has, not those of his/her pets) that target foes and can miss. If your MM has no such powers, that could be a problem.

That this can happen is one of the core complaints about the very existence of the participation system.

* Arcanaville did extensive log analysis on game logs submitted by numerous players, and I did (likely less extensive) analysis of my own game logs. I believe we both found there was no visible long-term correlation between rarity of reward with metrics available in logs such as damage dealt, damage taken, iXP earned (when earning was in effect), or even Astral/Empyrean Merits earned. The correlation to power activations was wholly Arcanaville's - I added this to my own log parser after she posted about the correlation, but my accounting of power activations was very brute force and likely counted activation of powers the participation system does not.
