As discussed in useful detail in this thread.

Forts are great if you can stand the sound effects for psionic attacks. I personally find them rather annoying so I prefer a good old fashioned gun. I'll probably make a Fort at some point but it'll be a second build for my Night Widow if / when I ever level her up and I suspect I'll be in Widow mode most of the time.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

Speaking for myself, the stealthiest range character (which is a preference of mine as well) that I have played is my Illusion/Trick Arrow. Not only is it one of the more versatile sets but you really can't beat Superior Invisibility. I think it's almost as much of a sweeper if not more then a Bot/FF. Not only are you talking about stealth but stealth that even while suppressed, after flash arrow, rarely gets touched while having a multitude of options in the way of damage, aggro control, ect. Even at +2, once you have perm-phantom army, it's like putting the game on easy mode.

A Trick Arrow Superteam's alpha strike is pretty inspiring.

I really do like my Huntsman, though; he doesn't even need Hasten to feel awesome.

Feel bad admitting it, but thats a good deal of why mine is a Widow.

Mains - Freedom: Croatoa - 50 Fire/Psi Dom, Grandville - 50 SS/Elec Brute, Dark-Astoria - 50 Dark/Fire Scrapper, Pearline - 50 Spines/Regen Scrapper, Caffeine Girl - 50 Earth/Kin Troller

If you want steath AND range go for a /energy blaster. Any AT can be made stealthy by combining the stealth power with a +stealth IO but only /energy has boost range. This is what I did for my stealthy ranged concept toon. I also added 3 dam/range HOs to each attacked for added excitment. Being able to out-snipe Nemesis snipers is fun!!

Heroes - Steel Authority
Dark Kensi lvl 50 Kat/DA Scrapper
Energumen lvl 50 Nrg/Nrg Blaster

Villians - The Order of the Iron Axis
Thrakazog lvl 50 EMInv Brute
Killing Frost lvl 35 IceIce Dom

Perma-PA is essentially immortality, since nothing is likely to ever actually attack your character. Too bad it also requires a several billion inf build...

I'm logged in as my Bane right this very instant and Surveillance does not pull out the Mace; it plays it off the wrist like the Blaster version, but with no mini-computer. I don't know if this is a goof or not, but for now the power doesn't make you draw a weapon.

It still de-draws the rifle, though.

Not really, at least in my case. I don't think I spent more hen maybe 1b if that. I don't/can't farm for damn or know how the market works so I tend to make my cash through other means (cc's, hero merits, ect.) and in my build, even if my PA wasn't up completely all the time, Phantasm takes up the slack as well as Tarantula.

As for stealth, lets put it this way, I didn't need to touch a single longbow agent while doing one of the last SSA's. With Illusion/Trick Arrow/Mace, your basically a Mastermind on acid that has the capabilitys of a widow/bane.
