You could also use the lvl 18 power for a Gang-war type power but with hunting birds or the like. A targeted aoe like the gunfire from the vanguard jets in the tutorial or Rain of Fire, birds swooping down causing dot, fear, and perhaps a tohit or defence debuff. Not real/persistent pets like Gang War, but provides some control/mitigation.

I like the set as listed and would definitely give it a go. First I would want to see a female skin for Thugs, so I could play the MM I've been saving a name for for the past year or two, but a beastmaster character would definitely be fun.
Female MM pets will likely never happen. Mostly because no male players are hiding their /true/ intentions for such a thing. While some people may say 'Oh they'd use a harem that's hardly an excuse to deny it!', well...

/em glances at Gunslinger thread via sexism rampaging.

IS it a valid reason? Not so much, but... it's also not /that/ important. But we know what MOST people asking for Female MM pets want. It's, sadly, not a minority thing. It'd quickly dive into a realm of immaturity.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

As well as this MM primary!
A boomerang blast set? Blasters are squishy enough without...

Not sure if anyone mentioned this specifically, too tired at the moment to go over the other responses in detail, but:

With regard to pet recharge rate increases, this is currently not workable do to a long standing issue with pet AI. In short, when pets USED to be able to benefit from +recharge, they ended up spamming the snot out of their fastes-recharging attack, to the exclusion of anything else.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

Hey there. I took that out read a couple post down on the first page to see how I altered the set.

I rather like this overall but have to agree with some that the boomerang, while kind of cool and very unique, could probably be replaced with something better. I am not sure about the hunting rifle idea either, personally, I see more people taking this with themes along the lines of Indians/Druids/Nature protectors/Ect. then anyone else so having a gun or a whip along side your animal companions might be a bit much which, again, makes the boomerang even more thematic and better.

However, I think I would prefer a crossbow with different variations (from Modern to Medieval to Ancient) or, since out of the all MM primarys, I see Animals being the predominate Melee set, we could switch it up with a more melee oriented weapon, dagger.

GR; We got Demons

As much as I love new MM Primaries I'd prefer to see improvements to the AI next. MMs are a great AT, my personal fave really, but some of the pet AI is just this side of stoopid.

You know, I was thinking about this again today and it occurred to me that we forgot the one powerset that would not only work with any 4-legged MM pets, but could be used as both melee/smashing or even thrown/lethal. Staff Fighting.. they already said it was in the works and all of the other MM sets (except Demon) have powersets that are comparable to their non-MM counterparts.. a Staff would work very well in this case since it could have a long-range to short-range and be thematic.

For a more controlly set of real animals...

Varmint/...
As wolves and bears are considered varmints in the mid-west, you could change the lions to skunks which could provide debuffs and holds with their choking stench.

(No, I'm not terribly serious about this, but it would make for interesting toons).
