Blapper highest ST dps?
Total Focus hits hard, but is very slow, so its DPA is not exceptional. Energy Punch is much better for a DPS chain. I think you'd have to use some filler attacks still though.
I would hav to say at a glance sonic/dark and heres my explanation.
Sonics set has good resis debuffing powers, great for avs and gms, its dps is a quick and u can build the damage up through an attack chain if you spend enough on some really good ios, with that being said, dark has good melee too and you can again build a good attack chain with it, its to hit debuff means ull be dodging attacks often if built around that, and if I remember correctly dark m uses a pseudo controlling power, if not go for mace mastery and web cocoon to hold avs, dark even buffs ur powers like damage and to hit bonus and gives you end if ur low, if u build good enough u cud execute a good and able blapper.
Also as a side note rad is a good defense debuffer also, so the options are available to u.
Highest Dps doesn't come from Blapping, can I ask why you would want a squishy to me in melee range of an Av or Gm ??

Highest DPS will come from a mix of blapping and ranged attacks. In addition to melee attacks having a higher DPA than most ranged attacks, they give you the opportunity to boost dmg with a 2nd purple dmg proc on a high end build.
Yep, survivability can be an issue. Therein lies the challenge . That said, it's very possible to build a blaster with enough survivability to stand and trade blows with AVs and GMs. Most of the time. Failure rate will be higher than, say, a scrapper; I don't think we'll see blasters taking on 11 AV's at once, but I'd love for someone to prove me wrong.
In a vacuum...
DPA (dmg per activation time, numbers from Mids' with Arcanatime turned on)
Fire Blast (primary):
Blaze: 159
Fire Blast: 50.1
Flares: 53.2
/NRG
Energy Punch: 103.2
Bone Smasher: 84.3
/Dark
Smite: 91.75
MG: 80.3
/Electric
Havoc Punch: 84.3
Charged Brawl: 82.6
/Fire
Fire Sword: 82.8
/MM
Mind Probe: 69.1
It looks like the energy secondary has the best ST blaps, with dark close behind- but: Dark, Electric, and Fire all have dmg auras that will up your dps without any activation time required. Also worth noting is Soul Drain, which can outperform build-up under certain conditions. And of course, recharge requirements are going factor into what constitutes a 'viable' attack chain.
The reason that /mm is so popular for AV/GM killers is Drain Psyche, which debuffs your enemy's regeneration. Given that a level 50 GM regens around 350 hp/s, without a tool to reduce this you're going to have to produce in excess of this number dps-wise. And your excess will have to whittle down around 70k hp. Which means you'll be standing there for a looong time, giving your playmate more chances to slip in multiple 'lucky shots'. A level 50 AV will generally regen around 95 hp/s, with a total of 28.8k hp.
Fire/Elec is #1 ST dps when not factoring the -regen in /MM
Blaze>CB>HP>Blaze>CB>FireBall, use your self buffs (bu/aim/hasten) between fireball and blaze, lightning field damage aura puts it ahead of /EM which would otherwise be the same dps.
Charged brawl = Energy Punch, Havoc Punch = Bonesmasher, theyre the same DPA, dunno why your mids is showing differently.
I used the wrong cast time for charged brawl. My apologies. I think my pointer slid up to electric fence, and I used the cast time for that. Thanks for the catch.
CB: 103.2
(same as energy punch)
Fireball: 66.4
all numbers are base dmg values, with no enhancements.

Sometimes its cool to try out a build that "goes against" the design concept. Some people enjoy the challenge, some just like to be unique snowflakes...
We've all seen forum posts discussing melee Crabs, solo form HEATs, ranged blast Stalkers etc etc; it just is what it is. The actual target to achieve here is to play what and how you like.

When calculating DPS, I highly recommend factoring in the Damage Bonus you get from blaster's defiance.
Another thing to factor in is Reactive interface. Reactive Interface essentially provides you with 50.1 damage to each attack (Not damage enhanceable, but still solid DPS addition). Faster attack animations (even if they do less damage) can provide you with more DPS when using reactive. Charged brawl and Energy punch have high damage at very low activation time, thus making them an ideal attack along with Reactive interface.
I don't know from experience (my only lvl 50 blaster is a fire/ice), but I would think the -regen from MM would outperform any other secondary alone for effective kill speed on AV/GMs. My next guess for secondaries would be electric because of it's damage aura with Shocking Grasp and Charged Brawl. Next might be fire because of its multiple damage auras (Hot feet can add about 19 DPS and Blazing Aura can add you about 16 DPS without interrupting your attack chain). Closely followed by Energy for Energy Punch.
Anyways, that's my two influence.

I thought they gave you those melee attacks for when the enemy finally gets in your face, at which point you push the 'either die or get away from me' button and hope you don't get turned into paste. Not so you can walk up to the Ancient Red Dragon and say "Hi! I've only got 1d4 HP! *dagger stab!*"...

You gotta admit though its a sexier scenario if said character has +200 Armor Class Leathers of Divine Dragon Protection (ie enough IOs/power selections to softcap) when he initiates that conversation and attack cycle.

Wondering what power combination works best for single target DPS. Building for capped s/l/e and perhaps psi defence (if going /energy). Will try to blap AV's and possibly GM's solo.
What power set combo will give the highest ST dps attack chain?
Fire/elec? Blaze + melee attacks for great DPS? Or is fire/energy better?
Dark/elec or dark/energy...
Build cost is no problem (have played many years and have a lot of influence and sets).
Already have a fire/mm blaster but mm lacks good st attacks...
