Primary to pair with /Kinetics?
Alot of people are going to reccommend Fire blast and Rad blast.
Dark blast is meant to work quite well with kinetics so i have heard.
Many years ago i had a kin/psi def whom i loved, though quite a few people will argue that is a **** combo but whatever.
Elec would be worth a go but i think your best bet would be RAD/KIN
Sonic Blast is a very solid choice. The -res coupled with /kins +damage really helps melt mobs with a teams support and puts a hurting on hard targets.
For solo play Sirens song is an extremely valuable tool which will sleep the mob and allow you to work your buffs/debuffs in relative safety as well as pick the spawn apart one by one if you so choose.
The sonic waves could be tinted and perceived as energy to possibly work with your theme. The only negative of the set is that it is light on aoe damage while soloing. While teaming the -res in howl offsets your lower aoe potential by ramping up the rest of the teams aoe damage.
I'm going to chuck in another vote for Sonic.
The -Res from Sonic has a multiplicative effect on the +damage from kinetics. It is an awesome combo.
I've played a sonic/kin to 50 (one of my first toons actually), rerolled later on as a fire/kin corr, and is one of my favorite toons now, fire/kin completely outclasses
My dark/kin is working out well. Created for variety not min/maxing, but still dark provides some mitigation that kin lacks. And dark blast actually has 3 functional ST attacks now that Drain Life is almost T3 damage (in addition to being a great ranged self heal).
I had the most fun on my elec/kin/scorp corr. His theme was a guy whose mother was a tech-savvy villain who used nanites to supercharge her body. When preggo he inherited these and used them just like his mother, but adapted them so that he could also manipulate the energy in others near himself as well.
Practically speaking kin helps with elec blasts somewhat sub par dmg and the added end drain was a real boon to surviving. I softcapped my s/l defense...my usual plan was run in hitting the most dangerous foe with tesla cage/transference, buff up(siphons and FS), then hit short circuit and ball lightning. I could focus my ST attacks on things with higher hp with my aoes taking care of the weaker stuff.
The pet is OK but I never really remembered to recast it till it was just me vs 1 or 2 foes.
When I had this toon completely IOd I was constantly surprising myself with the things I was capable of.

Stonefather - 50 Stone/WP/Soul brute
Sable Affliction - Earth/Dark/Fire Dom
Wild Cipher - Beast/Time MM
Rad is pretty good. Not as much damage as fire, but it has great AoEs while in groups. Solo play may be a little slower though. I leveled up a 50 Kin/Rad Defender, and now doing Rad/Kin Corruptor which I am still having fun with.
To the OP I suggest you try the different sets out yourself (maybe on Beta and request for a bump to 50) just to see which set you feel you have more fun with.

My first villain to hit 50, and this was a long time ago, was a Fire/Kinetics Corrupter. It's also the character I've kept continuously playing and enjoying over the years on this game. He's got a ridiculous amount of infamy thrown into his build, which has been redone numerous times.
What I'm saying here is that I love the Fire/Kinetics combo, and I've never felt the need to make another kinetics character.
I'm also aware that this isn't a "perfect synergy" character. He has no way to stop attacks short of attacking first, more violently than the other guys. That's why I softcapped his S/L/E defense.
If I had to roll another one, though, I would probably choose either Sonic, Radiation, or Electricity.
Radiation gives defense debuffs, gets boosted damage from Kinetics, and has some nice "Up close and personal" powers. Also, its strongest ST blast is a nice stun. What I don't like about it is that it's essentially a weaker version of its Fiery counterpart, and lacks anything other than the one stun that you can use to keep yourself alive and in the middle of the fight.
Sonic gives sexy -Res debuffs to stack with your damage buffs as an offensive double whammy. It also gives you Siren's Song, which is a solo player's godsend (Fulcrum Shift doesn't wake up enemies, by the way). With Siren's Song as a automatic "Pause" power, you can hop into melee only when needed unless you're fighting EBs/AVs/GMs, as well as take enemies apart one at a time with Sonic's ST blasts. More protection and variety than Radiation, but the damage isn't super stellar.
Electricity's main problem is damage, and Kinetics will help it through that problem with relative ease. It also comes with sapping potential, two nice attacks which can be used for Melee AoEs, and a hold. Taking your Kin sapping into account and slotting for endmod? You'll be looking at a lot of enemies who are suddenly out of gas. This is a combo I'd suggest you pair with the new Agile Alpha, which boosts endmod, recharge, and defense.
Of the three, I'd personally try out the elec/kin. It won't deal the raw damage of my Fire/Kin, but it will at least have endurance draining. Heck, maybe the dinky pet that Elec Blast gets is affected by Kinetics buffs.
For your concept, you might like Rad/Kin, though, and I hear good things about it. Just isn't my thing.
Too many alts to list.
Fire or Rad. Sonic/Kin is awesome for maximizing team damage output but it really doesn't have the offensive output by itself to make good use of Fulcrum Shift.
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
Hi all, I've got an idea in the back of my head that I'm trying to hash out, and have decided on a Corruptor as a good fit, with /Kinetics as the secondary.
What I'm trying to decide is what a good primary might be for it! I'm looking at something theme wise that would be energy based (the character is supposed to be a living energy form, in a humanoid shape), so the weapons sets are out, if I stick with my theme and concept. I know Kinetics kinda needs to be up close and personal with foes, because of how a lot of the powers seem to work.
I'm looking for something with good damage, and decent "defense". I solo a good amount of time, and being able to live long enough to drop my foes would be a nice thing!
So, advice time? What primary might work well for this?
