Grimm vs. Once Upon a Time
What was the thing down in the mines at the end? I couldn't make it out.
It looked to me like a crystal cocoon. Sort of like the one Snow White is usually shown to be in after eating poison apples.
OUAT is slipping a bit for me. Henry is getting more annoying than convincing. The Mayor's performance and dialogue varies from good to over over over melodramatic (and not in the good way). The real world situations are less realistic than the fantasy world (and not in a good way). The 'lets blow a hole in the mineshaft' scene is an example of that. I like the concept but I think the execution is lacking.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows that setting off explosives to free a blockage is counter-productive.
And why is the newly deputized former private investigator with zero expertise in anything regarding the situation calling the shots? Meanwhile the Mayor is mustache-twirling telling her to go 'secure the perimeter' to keep her in her place. muahahaha?

Not sure I see your point? Is that supposed to make the writing better or worse?

Which was not true. My point was that you weren't paying attention and then to try to blame poor writing for your poor attention span.
You said...

My feeble little brain does in fact remember the Mayor bossing her around. Won't deny it. Not my point, but also heavy handed and poor writing. Why would a mayor call the shots during a rescue like that. There are experts for things like that, yet they don't seem to exist in Storybrook. We get it, she's a control freak.
The mayor yells at Emma that she is making it worse. To which Emma says "I am trying to save him".
Emma determines they are all clear when the explosives are rigged. And the mayor tells them to "Blow it". Not an explosives expert either one of them. It was after they almost blew them both up that they realize that drilling or using a dog may be more prudent. Emma's the more qualified to go down the shaft because the mayor has been behind a desk for 10 years. Again, not a firefighter or even the sherrif the shaft was plenty big? Why is everyone on the surface wearing a helmet and not the person being lowered down the mine shaft? Meanwhile Mr. Sherrifman says nothing but lets the battle royale continue between Henry's two moms. Why would the police or mayor run the rescue with the fire department there?
But if you think that scene was sharply written, then we'll have to agree to disagree. But the one thing I won't do is question your intelligence or brainpower. I said the writing was bad, and I stand behind it. I said nothing about the people who enjoy it so you shouldn't treat it as an insult to you in any way.

But I can only assume that introducing a new character at this point would have made the episode feel more rushed.

The funniest part of this whole exchange is that I agree with your basic point; that this scene around the mine is not the best writing in the show. What first drew my to your post was your posting of misinformation to bash the show. If you wish to bash the writing, at least highlight the relevant parts (which you did this time around).
With all that said, if I wanted realism I would watch Law and Order...not Once Upon a Time. Derp.
Lastly, I never insulted your intelligence. I merely stated you had a poor attention span. And I'll add 'acting melodramatic' to that as well.
Except I didn't use misinformation. Why would a newly deputized member of the police department be so intimately involved in a mineshaft rescue when the fire department, the sheriff himself and safety workers are standing around?
I initially didn't have time for a prolonged breakdown of the episode so my post was short.
I'm plenty lightened up, my skin is of a good thickness. That said, I won't be a push over when insulted.

A sheriff's deputy would have more reason to be in authority over a accident/crime scene than a civilian mayor.
Yeah. The drama is getting a little too thick for me too.
I agree, I thought the scene with those above ground in the mine was pretty unbelievable. But on the other end, I really enjoyed the scenes with Jiminy, which was what the episode was about. And the thing in the mine shaft was Snow White's shattered glass coffin.
Are you sure? I thought it was the Magic Mirror.
One other thing I noticed is that it seems that Once is talked about a lot more online than Grimm is.
Maybe we're just smarter than everyone else, Bubba!
IIRC, when they showed the Mirror, it was pretty big (not quite full length.)
And OUAT has waaaaay more to be talked about than Grimm. EVERYONE knows about the Disney characters but not so much the original Grimm tales.
I haven't seen the episode yet but I assume that whatever it is won't be the Mirror because we have already met the Mirror, he runs the local newspaper.
This is a song about a super hero named Tony. Its called Tony's theme.

I'm pretty sure that it is a crystal coffin. The real question is whose? I doubt it was Snow White's because why keep an empty coffin under ground? Did the earthquake free someone that the evil witch was keeping under wraps?

I'm guessing that glass coffin will come into play for the season finale.
Completely forgot the paper was called the Mirror.
But why would the queen keep the coffin? Has to be way more to it.
However I don't think there is anything more to it than that. It would have been the absolute proof the kid needed, but now its beyond access.
The one thing that surprised me in this episode was that the Mayor seemed genuinely concerned for Henry. I suspect they are going down the root that the Evil Witch only wanted someone to love and was spurned etc etc.

Just watched yesterday's episode of Once a little bit ago. I really liked the direction they took with Jiminy. I also had forgotten (or they never mentioned) that his dalmation was actually named Pongo. And even though they've always presented the show as if the conceit of the show was true, it was kind of nice to see some proof, even if no one else got a chance to see it as well.
