Hey, remember this thing?

There's an old trailer still floating around Youtube with some old City of Heroes stuff for the asian market that apparently fell through. I'm not going to pretend like I know the whole story, but here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r24wkTxMcQ

It looks like the martial arts character is using something that looks a lot like what we now have as Kinetic Melee, but there are other powers in there. Gun/Blade, Water, and something that looks like Spirit Manipulation or something of that sort.

If you like what you see, let's let the devs know so they can dust off whatever archives they need to to make these powers and more a possibility!

I remember seeing that. Other than Statesman the only character I recognize is Mirror Spirit. Foreshadow might be one of the two fellas fighting, but I can't guarantee that.

It's actually not a City of Villains trailer. This is the original trailer for the (now deceased) Korean version of City of Heroes, which lamentably flopped.

The character to which you are referring is Spark Blade, one of the signature characters from the Korean launch. Lamentably, like Faultline, he had signature powers that could never be used in combination with each other in normal player ATs (and back then, sets like Dual Pistols didn't even exist - or villain ATs, for that matter). Furthermore, he's never existed in-game.

I'd love to make a character like this, but his power combos don't exist. Perhaps when they expand the APP sets, we'll be able to get things like Blade Mastery or Weapons mastery, so we can add some blade attacks to Blasters, or pistol attacks to Scrappers.

Yep this trailer was for "City of Hero" (without the 'es') which was the Korean version of this game. From what I understand the Koreans never got into it because it was a little to "western" for their tastes.

At any rate I'm pretty sure they've already mined it for idea to put back into the game we're playing now. For instance a good number of costume items we now have supposedly came from that game, not to mention other innovations like the costume save/load feature that it had years before this game adopted it. As you point out things like Kinetic Melee was probably another thing we got from that game.

I noticed this watching the trailer again and someone in the youtube comments did too, but Rose Star (female in tights) was wearing some kind of golden infinite-symbol shaped pendant, Ouroboros perhaps?

I think it would be great if one issue's new non-incarnate story content could go towards bringing these characters into the game and showing off some of their powers in missions. We all know Mirror Spirit exists as an NPC into Faultline but I've never seen her use her powers before in game.

Spark Blade might be the hardest to port due to the nature of his powers, though it might be on par with the way they're doing Sorceress Serene and her Ice/Fire blade powers a la Warwitch. Which would be fitting because I remember she was a Blue Kings' comic character who got into the game proper, followed by Apex with his own taskforce many game issues later!

Wouldn't it be great to acknowledge the 'forgotten' heroes of the City of Hero game by bringing them back to the better-than-ever CoH: Freedom?

Not to be confused with Spork Blade, which is the Titan Weapon model I most want.

You heard it here first, people. Mirror Spirit is Rularuu the Ravager.
It all makes so much sense now.
