Expired time cards

This post is for those who use time cards to add game time.

I was told that any NCsoft time card can be applied to any NCsoft game regardless of the game that is printed on the card. I just found out that Auto Assault time cards are rejected with the message: This serial code has expired.
I have used Auto Assault time cards in the past up to i20 and these were accepted. My only guess is that the update to Freedom has invalidated the older cards.
The cards don't have an expiration date printed on them, so it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't be accepted.
So just a heads up for those who use time cards from older games like Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa, and maybe older boxes for City of Villains. There may be a chance that these codes won't be recognized.

I am not sure about this but I am under the impression that time cards of any variety no longer work.
The site I usually buy my time cards from has a big "OUT OF STOCK*" banner posted on the page with the details for the time cards. That has never happened before.

Could be just a coincidence mind you, I really shouldn't be reading too much into it.

I've always just used NCSoft 60 day time cards (and the occasional 30) but they have been working fine for me.

Possibly the more 'specialized' cards no longer work if the original game has been taken down ?

As was said in Gran Torino, "Your world is nothing more than all the tiny things you've left behind", let CoH be one of those things. Don't forget, forgive.

Wow, I'll have to be careful now, if cards are getting phased out. Thx for the heads up!

From what I remember, if the code is for a SPECIFIC game, then the serial is only tied to THAT game. Like mentioned, the old NCsoft Time Cards, that have multiple games listed on the box is usable for any current NCsoft game.

At Best Buy they have Aion timecards and CoH gamecards. I wouldn't be able to use the Aion card to fund my CoH game because the serial itself is specific to Aion even though both products are from NCsoft.

They changed it from game specific to general all game time cards just after Auto Assault was shut down. They said then that any NCSoft game card would work on any other NCSort game. I know the Auto Assault cards worked on CoH because I've used around 15 of them over the years. I'm guessing that if they are not working now that it's a bug.

Or since they haven't been selling them since Auto Assault was closed, five years ago, they've finally gone an invalided all those old serial numbers.

From Help.NCSoft.com updated 2011-09-29

"Although they are labeled for specific games, PlayNC/NCsoft game time cards are usable on any of our games. However, you must use a game time card specific to the territory of your game account. You can use a City of Heroes, City of Villains, Aion, Lineage II, or generic PlayNC/NCsoft Game Time Card for any of those games."

They have Aion Gamecards, not time cards. As mentioned on that link,

"NOTE: Game cards are not the same as game time cards. Game cards can only be used as indicated on the packaging. "

I'd file a support ticket on it just to be sure. Maybe they can work with you on it, I do not know.

A few years ago I filed a support ticket because I had just purchased a time card for CoH and the website told me the card had already been used. The GM said not only had the code already been used, but that *I* had used it a couple years ago. I was SOL. I can't imagine the statistical possibility that not only would the same code be printed twice but that I would get it both times.

Thanks, I put one in. The cards were still in an unopened box, so I am crossing my fingers.
