I've never actually been a regular watcher of Family Guy either. But I do know he's totally into Star Trek based at least on how much he geeked out to Shatner during the Comedy Central Roasts if nothing else.

Like I said before I think the franchise could do worse than to put MacFarlane in charge.

The problem with Caprica was that they tried to stretch a show that would have been a perfect 8-10 part miniseries into an ongoing episodic series. With no concept of a specific closed story with a definite beginning, middle and end it finally spun off into the weeds and was rightly cancelled for it. Somehow I think MacFarlane would have better sense than that on a Star Trek show.

Side note:

I have a bottle of the Tiberius Star Trek cologne. I bought it just for laffs. But it actually smells kinda good. A nice sandalwood base to it. Plus, it's a hit with the alien ladies.

And I'll bet that 60% of the time it works every time too.

I've not actually worn it out yet. It's sitting on my shelf along with my Ghostbusters Ectoplasm energy drink, my Vault-Tec lunchbox, and all my other swag.

I was being silly with the alien ladies comment.

It'd be interesting if he manages to get something going with this. He certainly wouldn't be the worse choice by far.
He's smart and figuring out what targetted audiences want so I would definitely give him a shot.

Referring to your link Lothic- not sure how much I would believe that report since it's suppossed to be 5-7 years after Voyager yet mentions that the Klingons are restless after the Praxis incident?? Praxis occurred about 100 years before. If anything, the later seasons of DS9 showed the Klingons, even with their losses in the Dominion war were level with the Federation...

Now if the empire split that would be interesting, or possibly some cleaning up of the god-awful explination that Enterprise gave.....

I also wouldn't mind another "bad guy" race stepping up, like the Breen.

"Sir! A black hole has just opened up next to the ship!"

"You think that's bad? Remember the time ..."

I'll leave it to you fine people to complete the line.

Eh, well things posted like this on the Intertubes are always suspect to me.

I figure about the only solid data point we have to go on is the relative box office success of the last Star Trek movie. I'm not suggesting that Abrams will (or should) have anything to do with the next Star Trek TV series but I'm just making the point that the Network Suits might see that success as an indicator that it's time to bring Star Trek back to TV.

Basically as always I'll believe it when I see it...

I think you're reading too much into the phrase "since the Praxis incident". To me it says, "After 100 years of kowtowing to the Federation, the Klingons are getting restless".
