The server is obviously now loaded enough that you have to queue to get in.

It happens.
I doubt VIPers get any priority as far as that's concerned.

Actually VIPs are supposed to get priority queues. Whatever than means.
That may be possible. But honestly I'm not sure how much that might matter because in my 7.5 years of playing (mostly on Virtue) I've only been queued like that maybe 4 or 5 times and my waits never lasted more than a few minutes tops. I'd think the fact that I'm currently a VIPer now wouldn't matter that much either way for that. *shrugs*

We do. That doesn't mean you'll never hit a queue, though. If the server's full, the server's full. You'll be among the first in the door ( Other VIPs that queued up ahead of you will get in first, of course ), but that doesn't mean you'll never have to wait.

Honestly, the queues are a good sign ( Though also a sign that hardware upgrades are needed ): It means we're drawing enough population to fill the servers. That never happened except on 2xp+free reactivation weekends before.

This was basically the point I was indirectly trying to make: Being a VIP might help you in these situations now but it's not going to allow you to avoid queues entirely. Back before we even had the concept of VIPs and non-VIPs there were times when I still had to wait in queues. *shrugs*

Yep it'll be annoying if the queuing becomes an everyday occurrence but seeing it happen at least occasionally is a good indicator that the game is still pretty active.

i'm surprised there were queues on Freedom during what would be early afternoon to late morning in the US. i would expect it a few hours later mid week. Still, it is both good and somewhat vexing.

One of the early post-Freedom queue misconceptions that amused me the most was that some actually thought that it meant that it would kick the free players off the server to make room for a VIP.

But yeah, even if VIPs get bumped ahead in the queue they'd still have to wait until all the VIPs waiting ahead of them got in. i have no idea what the ratio of VIP to Premium and Free players is, but considering that until very recently they were 100% of the population i would expect that VIPs continue to be something like a majority of players.

Activity levels on Exalted suggest there's quite a lot of VIPs. Because I know a LOT of VIPs who haven't bothered to transfer over or make new characters there due to loving their home servers. So the fact that Exalted is hitting loads comparable to Freedom and virtue says to me that we got a lot of VIPs.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
My guess would be that a large number of people got disconnected at the same time, so you have hundreds of people trying to log in simultaneously, triggering the queue system.
