The Strange Case of level 1 Hellions...
Looks like level one's have a boost because the game wants to get you to 2 as soon as possible?
I noticed this the other day. I'm glad it wasn't me going crazy. (Ok, ok...)
As others have suggested maybe it's just getting you that boost because if you are a new player you probably won't have access to the Vet Weapons... and if you do, getting to lvl 2 or level 3 isn't exactly cumbersome.
I guess there's been a shift in attitude - when I first joined the game getting to level 10 in an afternoon would be considered pretty good going for a new toon, now it's as though they want you to be there ASAP.
No bad thing IMO.

I believe you were only ever supposed to be level 1 for the Tutorial, so when they finally let us skip it, we were intended to blow by level one as fast as possible anyway.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

The puzzling thing is, until level 1s con grey, it's actually better exp to beat up lots of level 1s than it is to beat up the same amount of equal levels. When you are level 5/6 it stops being economic/worth it, but it is quite an interesting point to note.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Been this way forever. When I don't feel like sewers I run straight to AE at level 1 and grab a mission with a lot of enemies. Very fast way to hit level 5.
Your exemplaring idea doesn't work, I tried it long ago. It's because when exemplared you aren't getting the normal exp values, you are getting a value pulled out of thin air based on your actual level.
Sarcasm and internet.... I know, I thought the smiley would help though, apparently it didn't.

Not exactly a secret when there's a whole farm built around the concept and a large discussion thread on these forums.
The level 1 double xp bug has been around for years. I've sent in bug reports for this issue more than a few times.
Its not just hellions, its anything that isn't in AE. Edit: It does not work in AE so go ahead and try it but it will award normal level 1 xp.
Hint: this is how I get my characters to level 4 quickly.
So, I noticed something odd yesterday. I put it down to being level 1...but the wierdness continued even at level 2.
Here are excerpts from todays tested combat logs; Now, what's so unusual about that? Those are done in order. Level 1 through to level 3 minions. No outside influences, never before been touched by NPCs or Players. The level 1s give more than the level 3s. They give more than level 4s, too. They only give 14 exp and 10 inf. They only start making sense again at level 5, where you get 22 exp and 15 inf. So, what the heck is going on here? (All testing done with a level 2 Enrg/Time Corr) |
H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster
