Curious about points cards for sale

I'm positive this has been brought up, but I'm curious if there are any plans to sell Paragon Points cards (not the game time-cards, specifically cards for Paragon Points) at any retail outlets?

I pay for my sub with credit and budget that in, so I don't want to use time cards, but I try to minimize credit spending. I'd probably buy more points on a regular basis if you could buy them at Game Stop or Best Buy or something. I know I'd buy some for my Premium account from time to time, and I'd love to have some stocking stuffers or occasional surprises for my son and wife (we all play )

If it hasn't been mentioned before, it seems really silly that it hasn't.

I couldn't agree more.

It has been mentioned, and if memory serves, it was Zwillinger who responded along the lines of: it is definitely a worthwhile idea, and within the realm of possibility, but there is no forward motion on that front currently.

My guess is that they need more time to calculate the cost/benefit of such a plan. How many people would buy them from retail stores, would that be enough to counter the production costs of the cards, etc.

I also think this is only a possibility at this point because they don't have the tech necessary, since a system that involved "point codes" would probably be the same system used for "gifting points," which received a similar response from the community reps.

Well I, for one, hope they do decide to make them. They'll probably get money from me more easily that way

Say I'm at Best Buy checking out movies, since I'm there and have some spare cash, I'll pick up a $15 card- I'd daresay almost every time I go... since I don't go unless I have the spare cash

Holidays are coming up, and like I said before, they'd make great stocking stuffers! I know I'd buy a few for my son, who's Premium, so he could get a few more reward tokens toward his next tier.

My daughter plays a series of other online games that have such cards. Most of her gifts last year was that she wanted those cards so she could buy clothes and stuff in them. At the time I thought, compared to other things we could have gotten her if she'd asked, it was kind of silly. However, I shrugged and figured "If that's what she wants..."

But I'm thinking if they do make them for Co* I can see myself asking the same of anyone who doesn't know what to get me.

Just sayin'

OH! Also, I'd also buy them for my old secondary' account which I'm playing around on again as Premium (let it lapse long ago) just for fun. I doubt I'd ever put anything for it on the credit card, though the occasional points card I'd purchase would go on it if I have everything I want on my main VIP account.

I'm rather surprised City isn't looking into this more seriously, but I guess NCSoft generally only offers time cards for their games. Even Facebook games have point cards everywhere. I have a friend with a birthday coming up, and I'd really like to get her Street Justice since it'd be perfect for her and she wouldn't buy it on her own. But I have no way to do that short of saying "log into your account and then go look away while I use my credit card on your account for... something." At least some electronic method of gifting, like you can with WoW? Buy them points or a shop item, they get an email with a code.
I would also totally gift points to my other friends who also play. I'd love to get them too, I'm probably going to be asking for a 3DS eShop points card for Xmas. I know City isn't as big as some of those things but it is the way to go now. Like I said, I'm cool with something purely digital if nothing else.

I don't think the production cost of the cards would be the hindrance. It would be the 20% (roughly) cut that a Best Buy / Wal-Mart / Etc. would take off the top.

I thin having a presence in those stores again would bring in more sales and more income for NC Soft. After all, 80% of 0 is 0.

See, this makes sense to me too. They already have (or had) some kind of distribution network going with the paid time cards, they could (presumably) use that, or something similar. I also agree having store presence would likely generate a lot more revenue as well, especially with the holidays coming up.
