Freedom Questions
You will keep access to everything in Going Rogue (sans Incarnates because it requires GR+sub) - you keep Demon Summoning/Electric Control, but MMs/Trollers require a separate unlock. You will lose access to First Ward. FW is a zone pack for 600pp. You will lose access to Time Manipulation characters. TM is available for 800pp.
It also depends on how many Reward Tokens you have in the Paragon Rewards Program, because the PRP unlocks items/stuff in tiers. You may or may not have access to masterminds, auction house, inventions system, etc.

Smart way to get me not to unsub...my main characters are a Mastermind and a Controller (and a Dominator).

So instead of subscribing for two months, buy 2400 PP and unlock them. They're now unlocked forever, and you never have to pay another penny to play them (including subscribing). To go along with those PP you just bought, you get two Reward Tokens to bump you further up the tiers.

What's the difference between people who boughed GR with money and people who get GR when becoming VIP?
edit. and VIP person who drops to premium and boughed GR vs getting GR with new system? |
Player B has never bought GR and goes premium: they lose access to everything in GR, including characters made with GR powersets, Alignment, Praetoria, etc.

Clarification needed here. I was under the impression that the devs had told us that content, rather than zones, would be gated. If this is true, then a Premium character would still have access to First Ward itself, but would be unable to access any of the contacts/arcs there. Has anyone tested to see if this is the case?
|
Yes, Premium players can access First Ward, but can not play the Contact content. That content can be bought though. and once bought, you'd have it for the life of the game. I know from experiencing it during Beta.
I transferred a mid-20s Character over to the Beta to test First Ward. It was in the early points of the Open Beta and VIP setting weren't fully in. I could access First ward, but not start any of the Zones content.
Thank you for the time...

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

Must be easier to disable a contact(s) than a specific zone.
Plus it's advertising. "Look at this nifty zone, wouldn't you want to pay $7.50 to do missions here?".

I want to point out that reward level 5 requires only 27 months, not 33 (9 veteran badges + 2 yearly tokens + 1 token for retail box + 1 free token = 13 required for level 5). So if the OP has been continuously subscribed since the forum registration date, he should be at that level.

People who got those things for free just by being a VIP do not keep them. They will either have to remain subscribed or buy those things with points if they want to keep them.
Incarnate content is not included in that. Incarnates require a subscription, and ONLY a subscription to use. There is no way I am aware of to purchase it separately.

I appreciate your advice, but unfortunately that wouldn't help me. When I thought about going Premium, it was never a permanent thought. Seeing as I only intend to bring one of my characters down that Incarnate road he is currently Level 1, I thought I would unsubscribe, get him to Level 50, then resubscribe and be able to access the Incarnate content. Unfortunately, that character is a Mastermind. My intention of going Premium would be to save money, especially seeing as I have every intention of returning to VIP in the future. But because I would be forced to buy at least the Mastermind archetype that idea would no longer work. But I appreciate your help.

How long will it take you to go from 1-50? If more than a month, then buying MMs would likely be cheaper... otherwise it obviously wouldn't. If you're trying to save money, you've got many, many, many options...

I'm curious as to what happens to Premium players, that do not have GR, who purchase a retail copy of GR after Freedom is released and apply it to their account. Would they have permanent access to all the content, builds, and costumes that come with GR, or will they still have to spend the PP to acquire them in the store?

They'll have access to all the GR stuff, same as if you had bought and applied it before Freedom. The only difference is they would not get the 2 free character slots.

GR has dropped to $15 which is the pricing of the alignment switch alone. Needed for those brutes with low END that need access to the Energy Mastery set.

Chatting with a friend who was back on premium account and looking forward to playing again. In talking with her about the token system she was one short of filling out tier 6 so I figured she would have about 3yr vet with 7 character slots. She has a few lvl 50s, that were IO'ed but since she does not have the tier 7 filled her IOs on those characters will be unusable and grey'ed out.
Was I correct on the predicted charcter slots since she did get going Rogue and about not having IO access?
I want to clarify a few things about what I would or wouldn't be able to access if I cancelled by subscription.
So, currently, I have access to all of the content in the game through my VIP subscription (not including extraneous powersets etc.).
If I were to cancel my VIP subscription, what would I retain? I have purchased Going Rogue, so I'm told I would retain everything included (the powersets, the alignment system, Praetoria); but would I lose access to First Ward? If so, does that mean I would, in-turn, lose all the other benefits of being a VIP, for example, would I need to purchase Time Manipulation? Would my Time Manipulation character(s) be locked out until I did so?
I'm well aware I would lose access to the Incarnate system and would be unable to obtain further access to it without a subscription. That is something I have considered. Can I assume that all my Paragon Points already accumulated would be retained?
