One reason you might not recognise names is the server list merge. When the EU and US lists merged, the EU players were the ones who had to rename in case of conflicts, and some of the regulars lost their globals.

Nice to see some people still around! Issue 21 also brought me back, but I have decided to give the new Exalted server a try.

im around just carnt get into the bloody game for last 20+ hours, no help whats so ever in the forums from red names and 18 later still no reply from support, so ill probally leave the game, i'll try till sunday night each hour but after that i just dont know

I'm not around any more. Too many ppl wanting to do speed runs. Completely ruined the game for me. I like to kill lots of stuff and take my time about it. I'm off to Freedom as I hear there are a lot less nubz over there.

So, I've just reactivated my account and I'm kind of stunned with the amount of changes in the past 6 months.
I'm doing some light reading on the patch notes to catch up with all this incarnation stuff, server list merge and freedom stuff. * If anyone is bored enough, maybe you can write a short version of all the new stuff to me :P *
Anyway, I went ingame last evening and it seemed to me like Defiant was kinda healthy, population wise. Not so surprising was to figure I couldn't recognize 80% of the players on Defiant Events.
So, for those who might recognize my global - who's still hanging around?
