Will you be swapping to Titanic Weapons and why?

I delete because I have no use for characters that aren't true to their concept. I play for the story and the narrative, and as such if a character was "improved" by being rerolled, then I quite literally have no use for that character ever again. Just a combination of powersets and levels doesn't interest me without a story attached, and if I have a version that's truer to that story, then the old one is obsolete.

That said, I'll keep an "old" version of Xanta off-server just in case I end up hating Titanic Weapons after the fact, but I rather doubt it.

ah, and in my case, no one powerset can truly fill what I feel is the story for some characters....which is another reason why I like proliferation...this way, I can do a complete set that represents everything a character can do...just, unfortunately not at once

my most extreme so far are Jean Hannah (Mind/Force troller) and Hana Jin (DB/WP tank) who I haven't much played with, which are supposed to be the same person only Jin is Jean's repressed attitudes

but yeah, I'll always tend to expand my characters and see a new version as just a continuation or expansion of their story rather than a retelling

Xanta doesn't know how to use more than one type of sword?

With the possible release of some of the new sets, I may actually expand on my characters' capabilities properly.

Such as my main pretty much trained in nearly every earthly type of hand to hand combat. He hasn't mastered them but he can put the hurting on some foos. So I may make him up as a MA/SR but lvl lock him at lvl 30. He may take Street Justice up to (but excluding) the goin attack ;-). And in his shifted state, have him using Titan Weapons up to 50. That'll leave me to incarnate his Katana...now if only we could 'bundle' these alts as being one character...

My half-main and buddy/training partner of my main will stay Inv/Kin but may also do WP/MA.

My other half-main is still pending depending on how SJ turns out. But she'll jump right on a staff melee set.

My main's friend turned evil needs thrown weapons but spines works for now. But he also has a possessed scythe so if Titan weapons has one (or better still, adding a whole set for it) he'll use that too.

Not every one of my characters gets this treatment but the ones that do very well can't use all these powers together in one fight. they'd have to stop and switch combat modes, right?

Most likely yes. Why? Because i've always wanted to smack things around with an ocean liner.

i try every new set that comes out, but i'll have to wait until i can actually play Titan Weapons before i'll know whether i'll take it to 50 and/or remake any of my alts with this set. The addition of the Titanic as a weapon would be a check in the "will play to 50" column.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

More specifically, I don't like making multiple versions of the same character. There are issues with names, issues with servers and who else these characters need to share a server with and issues of why a character can use some powers sometimes but not other powers at other times which I don't want to tackle. But, really, the one reason that's quite impossible to argue with is I just don't want to. And that's fine, really. I'm 110% positive that Titanic Weapons will serve Xanta far better than Broadsword does now. And as my post in your sig suggests, the only reason I could ever have to not use Titanic Weapons on Xanta is if they suck, and bad. Given that Shield Defence doesn't, I feel good about Titanic Weapons even if it sacrifices performance for gimmick.

That, and I want to remake her as a Brute. The option to do this did not exist when I first made her, and she was level 50 long before Going Rogue came out. But to be perfectly honest, being a Brute fits her concept much more so than being a Scrapper. Her key defining characteristic is that she's big, tough and very, very, VERY hard to kill. Iconic as the sword may be to her look and feel, her primary descriptor is still old-fashioned super strength, and a large sword is just an expression of this without having to use the Super Strength set, which at the time of her making wasn't even an option for a Scrapper. In fact, when I remade Xanta in Champions Online (and she was my highest-level character there, too), I went with "Might" and essentially made her a punching super strong fighter. I'd have liked to pick a heavy sword for her like I did here, but that game only seemed to have light, fast sword attacks at the time which really didn't fit, and they didn't have big swords that I could find, either.

Once upon a time, I made a suggestion for "dual class" characters which worked in pretty much the same fashion as you describe. They were kind of like multiple builds for the same character, only instead of builds, they were entire different characters who just happened to share the same name and appearance. In effect, this was an extension of my suggestion to let a player reusing his own names on the same server where he has them.

Provided each build takes up a character slot and each build needs to be levelled up separately, I don't see this as presenting a major balancing problem. If anything, it would just constitute making several characters who share the same costumes and whom you can switch between without going to character select, mechanically speaking. Conceptually speaking, it would allow us to claim that, for instance, each suit of power armour comes with different specs. One is a blaster, another is a scrapper and another still a controller. Or we could explain it as a character using multiple weapons and each one coming with its own unique stance and sensibilities.

Believe it or not, I actually agree with what you're doing here.

you see, this is what I'd like with my Dorsal/Mikosame/Same-Bushi character and other variations....I wouldn't even mind it if I had to log out and back in to switch...but it would be nice if each was linked to the same missions.....

we have SOOOO many mission options now, I don't see anything wrong with having two or more characters linked to the same mission pool....especially since that would slow down leveling...since you're essentially splitting the xp across three characters

then I could do my Halloweener(s) character (which would essentially be 9 character slots linked, however) and when one accepts a mission, I could do that mission with any of the characters I wanted
