Any Stone/Shields out there?
I don't have one... but I just finished building a Shield / Ice tank.
I modified that build into a Stone / Shield Brute.
This build will give you soft-cap to Melee, Ranged, and AOE attacks.

Stone Melee is brutal!! Too nice! But with shield i dont know, i dont have.
I am curious about this combo too, it looks super SMASH.
I am worried about endurance as both sets are a tad end hungry. Any experience? Is stone melee a no no without an endurance recovery power or super expensive IO's?
Also the one handed animations...what does hurl boulder look like with shield?
Any other secondary recommendations for a stone/??? brute?
STONE MELEE WILL MURDER YOUR BLUE BAR, BE WARNED.
(But it's great, best SMASH feel on a Brute)
I don't have a shields Broot but my stone/elec was the only toon ever to run out of end while speed boosted (and I had her all set with SOs, endurance before damage, etc). But after I got my end under control it was worth it, Stone Melee is too much fun, but the AoE is meh (Tremor, Fault is awesome but will deal no damage, I could tank with my squishy pre-ELA buff stone/elec in my teens because of Fault, and to be honest I rn out of endo that time because I was tanking for the team in a SF in my 20s so I was spamming Fault)
Try it, it's a very fun set. If you're afraid of the endurance comsumption try a /will but shields sound like fun although I don't like shields on a Brute (low base damage, low damage cap for charge so it's better on a scrapper).
I enjoy my SM/Shield Brute.....with Stamina, Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection you should be good. On mine I also have a Miracle proc, a Numi proc and 2 Perfromance shifters chance for end procs. Also softcapped to Melee, Range and Aoe.

I dunno. stone/ is pretty smashy, but its got crap for AOE.tremor or whatever is soooooooooooooo slow. And it is all lethal damage. Thats probably _fantastic_ for BAF/Keyes, because both of those have smash vuln robots. But everything else, its just kind of bleh....

Stone / shield is a delight to play, but your endurance bar will hate you.
This is a very smashy build, fun to play, lots of soft control with knockdowns and stuns. Shield charge makes up some for the crappy AOE. But get used to sucking wind. I always struggle with endurance.
Good times.

I have the tank alternate- shield/stone. It is the single most endurance demanding build I ever made. I is fun with physical perfection/cardiac but man is it hard on the endurance bar...so much so that the 30s to 40s are painful at times. That being said, it is a lot of fun and mitigation for teams.
Thanks for the heads up, I will run it up to 20 just to see how I like the combo, but I am afraid I might switch to SM/fire for increased aoe and end recovery.
Darn you fire armor why can't I quit you????
The thing that really boosted my /Shield's missing heal and heavy end usage was Hibernate.
It doesn't look like it on paper but in actual play I'm able to have it up often enough to smack it whenever my endurance bottoms out or I get hit with a cascade defense failure. Meanwhile the powerful taunt from AAO and your other powers will keep the attention on you for the couple seconds it takes for the debuffs to start clearing and your bars to refill to maximum.
Not the ideal solution for a main tank but it will keep you rolling with a high speed team quite well
Yeah. I have one and I want to like him, but the END drain is PAINFUL and I can't maintain momentum.
However, the character is fun enough that I can't bring myself to delete.
He uses the stone armor costume and the stone shield and looks very "stony".
He also has a fun name, Bluff, which is a play on words.
Bluff may refer to:
a type of deception
a very steep and broad hill or small cliff
So...you know, he LOOKS like a STONE tanker, but it's a LIE. He's really a shield brute.
So I'm easily amused; sue me.
Hi there,
So, a concept for a Stone/Shield Brute has started rattling around in my head. I realize it's not the FOTW, but I'm sure someone out there has had some success/enjoyment from this combo. Anyone care to share?
