I just gotta say the women that plays Hoyts mother when Tommy took her over, loved every minute of it she's a heck of an actor.

And now for a dissenting opinion:

Yawn...

I'll ride out the season but I doubt I'll be back for the next one. I should have just followed my gut and not started on this one, me.

Thoughts:

  • Quote of the night: TIE between "I just did this to piss off my parents!" and "I might be parrot-phrasing a little bit."
  • Wish they would have extended the cemetery fight scene for the beginning of this episode; slightly jarring to see Bill going from being silvered to rushing to Sookie's aid, and I was hoping Pam would have intervened on Eric's behalf.
  • It's obvious they're aware that separating the characters so much in the previous season hurt the overall plot, but I'm not sure throwing all the secondary characters together for a sub-plot out of left field is the answer.
  • "Monster's Box?" Ouch.
  • At least Tara's still got enough sense to see that Martonia has lost it and she's got enough of her self-worth left not to blindly follow anyone.
  • Yeah, cuz it's not like absconding with another man's family is going to piss him off even more; that's not going to backfire at all, Sam.
  • Dammit, Debbie is regressing; maybe she'll hook up with Tommy in a motel room which is promptly struck by a meteor.
  • Arg, this episode is pulling a Smallville, by which I mean they're cobbling together weird circumstances, in this case Sookie's half-dead dreaming, as an excuse to show us characters hooking up who normally wouldn't, in this case a Sookie sandwich.
  • I think they didn't hear me mention that I was tired of the haunted baby sub-plot.
  • Looks like Nan pulled cold ***** duty on this episode, so where's Pam? I thought maybe she'd help out Bill at the start of this episode and use that to convince him to rescind his "Tara is off-limits" policy.
  • After immediately bringing up Sookie's telepathy, it seemed clear Debbie was just concentrating hard on those thoughts to conceal her motives, which is a shame since I thought perhaps Debbie could get her character development back and take Pam's place as Sookie's supernatural girlfriend.
  • Man, if it's that easy to get in and out of Martonia's stronghold, I'm wondering how it is that Bill didn't just send a bunch of mercs in to take her out, or bomb it and blame it on a gas leak or something.
  • Dammit, Alcide, you should've let them kill that plot-dragging, scene-wasting little snot!
  • Hooray for Sam for finally hitting that.
  • Rassafrassin sonuva, we came *this* close to Jessica abolishing her no topless scenes rule tonight! Ahem ...
  • I really, really, REALLY hope that the whole haunted baby sub-plot wasn't the first of many where Lafayette is possessed and has to resolve the unfinished business of ghosts.
  • Aw, I was hoping Martonia just brought that follower along as a sacrificial lamb.
  • Okay, so we've got all the Louisiana sheriffs against Bill; is there any way he isn't totally ******?

Let's throw out ways that Bill might actually survive the night.
  1. Nan is an ancient and helps fend off the sheriffs, allowing Bill time to escape.
  2. The hold over the sheriffs is broken when Martonia is attacked (killed would probably do it but it's unlikely since she's the big bad and there's 3 episodes left), possibly by Pam, Sookie, or Debbie.
  3. Martonia's spell on Eric is the only one broken when either an intervening Pam or Sookie is threatened and he holds off the other sheriffs.
  4. Bill flees and enters a home to which only he has been invited or a safe haven of another kind.

I know he said parrot-phrasing! Part of me thought, "No way, he did not just say that!"

I doubt they care what you think, dude.

No sign of Pam since the previous episode's cemetery battle. Her absence worries me.

Except so far she seems to be honestly trying to help Sookie out, even potentially causing trouble for her pack by pissing off Antonia at the werewolves.

Er wha-? I thought it seemed obvious that Debbie was working against Sookie when she pointed out her presence to Martonia and then tried to leave without her. Then in the previews it's clear she's going back to the dark side.

You know that really confused me cause when her and Sookie are driving away Sookie doesn't even mention it. You think she would be like wtf why did you tell her I was back there.

Me too. You'd think she'd bring that up as part of the plan or Debbie would give some excuse.

This show's still interesting but it's starting to gain an annoying habit of developing side plots for a few episodes only to totally drop them and apparently never mention them again. Things like the whole Fairy plot (a pretty big deal in the books) and the fate of the Hotshot were-panthers were just abruptly dropped. My guess is that as of next episode the whole "Lafayette baby ghost" thing will be forgotten too. I have no problem with the show exploring all these tangents, but it's like it's trying to juggle too many of them and a few are literally dropping on the floor.

Basically I've always assumed (again based on the books) that Debbie was fated to be an enemy and probably killed by Sookie. I think this season's one year time jump allowed Debbie to cool off and let her linger around a bit longer as a regular character this season with Alcide. But I never figured she'd ever "play nice" forever and that Sookie would have to deal with her eventually. All I'm looking forward to is seeing how Debbie's going to die.

Hooray for Sam for finally hitting that.
I thought it was funny that at the same time Sam was "doing the deed" his brother was getting beat up for it.

Sure Tommy's done some stupid things but I think there's still a bit of noble tragedy in him because I think deep down he cares for Sam but he just doesn't know how to handle it with his dysfunctional upbringing. I figure he'll die while directly trying to save/help Sam in some way.

It was kind of obvious Jason and Jessica were going to jump each other but I figured Jason would try to hold himself back for at least another episode or two. So much for his "lifelong friendship" with Hoyt.

I thought it was fairly obvious that was part of the plan.

One thing to remember Debbie is a bat @#$* crazy V addict. Even if she seems "Ok" now, don't expect her road to stay smooth long. Yes the show deviates from the book, but I'd imagine this storyline will likely play out eventually.

Even if Debbie selling out Sookie was part of the plan, it seemed like Debbie was genuinely disappointed that Sookie made it out of there when she was getting into her truck and saw her in the side mirror.

So you think Debbie and Sookie preplanned for Debbie to "rat" her out to the witches as part of some kind of diversion? Really?

I think it's far more likely Sookie asked Debbie to help her get to Eric and Debbie just took advantage of the situation to screw Sookie over. Debbie wasn't serious about the werewolves helping the witches - she was just BSing Antonia and Antonia quickly realized she was being BS'd. After Debbie assumed the witches grabbed and killed Sookie she was clearly upset that Sookie managed to escape.

On the TV show Debbie is:

1) A werewolf (and pretty zealously prideful of being one)
2) A V-addict who's just "fallen off the wagon"
and
3) Semi-insanely jealous of Sookie, the core character of the show

That's pretty much 3 strikes right there. For me she's on the top of the "likely going to die before the end of the season" list. I've enjoyed her time on the show but I just don't see how she can avoid the death-spiral she's on.

It's Hoyt's fault... He can't very well give Jason the Monster's Box, tell him it's his job as best friend to deal with it... And not expect him to deal with it

I guess the cute part is that Jason would likely never get the double entendre Hoyt provided with that situation.

I think Tara may be gone for good. I'm surprised (but not that sad really) but her character was kind of played out and growing stale. She redeemed herself by saving Sookie and I think maybe she's gone......except when her spirit wants to talk to her cousin that is.
