Hi guys,

I've been away from the game now for pretty much a year or so and now i have decided to return!

I've got many 50's and still a reasonable knowledge of the game, well the old stuff anyway. :3

Any SGs that want a nice, new, shiny member?

Preferably an active SG with lots of peoples.

Welcome back, Defendrio!

Always good to see another Champion return to the game!

Cheers man, feels nice to be back playing again, still getting used to all the new changes with the incarnate stuff and all that jazz.

But hey, I'll get used to it eventually!

Heh, Dollmistress. I think I remember you too. Having the same dilemma, maybe foes in the past but friends in the future?

If you are playing on Champion.

You are already in an SG.

Hi!

As mentioned above, Champion is basically a really big SG. I can't even remember the last time I actually posted something on coalition chat.

Seek out some of the big, busy channels and you'll have no problems. BMT, Darkguard Network and Champions United are three great ones.

Hope to see you in game!

Oh and if I may play the villain a little further, while its awfully cute to say all of Champion is a SG, it's not terribly helpful for someone looking for one.

Lol. Hi Silas.

SG/VG, whatever, same idea.

Actually, an comes before a noun when the noun begins with a vowel sound, not just a vowel. That's why "an honor" is proper and "a UFO" is also proper.

In this case, "an SG" is correct because the letter S when pronounced begins with the sound of the vowel "e" (ěs jē), however a SG could also be correct if you pronounce SG as "supergroup".

Also, hai Rio.

Makes sense though, when I say it out loud. An supergroup sounds wrong, an ess gee sounds fine.

English is a funny old thing.
Yup, its one of the hardest languages to learn for a reason.

Tomb, bomb, comb. Sean Bean. Craziness. And don't get me started on 'hoist'.

This is something I've discussed a lot with my coworkers. They complain that English is really difficult, precisely for the reasons we've come across here. Idiosyncratic pronunciation, having several words which mean technically the same thing but have very subtle differences in connotation/meaning.

I disagree. I think English is easy to learn, difficult to master. Mechanically English is a relatively straightforward language. English only has two 'real' tenses, four if you include past perfect and present progressive. German has 4-6. English has one word for 'the', German has three. English nouns don't have gender, many languages do. Oh, and the words for 'the' in German also change based on the gender of the noun.

Once you learn the pronunciation rules for German, you can say pretty much any word correctly, even if you've never seen it before. This is not the case for English. With an intermediate grasp of English you may pronounce all kinds of words wrong, but you can speak technically correct English pretty easily. You can't do that with most continental European languages.

So cast my vote for English as easy to learn, difficult to master. I'm definitely glad I didn't have to learn it as a foreign language

I would concur on this actually, mastering the language is more what I was getting at than actually "learning" it. The verb conjugation is a bit different than most other languages though, which makes it trickier. I think it borrows that from German however, so that may be a non point.
