Dominators RULE !!!!
Yep. Hold 'em, then kill them. Nothing like neutering a spawn set for 8 people and then mowing them down while they wonder what is happening.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

its becoming my second fav AT... have a Plant/Earth Assault that is a riot to play, just started an elec/elec and a mind
My favored combos so far:
Mind/Psy/Soul- control freak, safest of the safe. Mind controls everything that can be, psy gives both an excellent buff & debuff as well as some varied side effects, soul gives a buildup and AoE.
Fire/fire/fire- a blaster that happens to control stuff too. So. Much. Stuff. TO BURN!!
Plant/earth- soft controls galore, and nothing says 'force of nature' like summoning a forest of writhing vines, creating your own bramble fields at will, hurling rocks, and smashing stuff with stones hammers.
Elec/elec. Sooo very sappy. He's eventually going to be elec/elec/mu. Stuff can't move, stuff doesn't have the energy to fight back.
I cannot agree with this sentiment enough. Nothing makes me feel quite as powerful is turning everyone into a pinata and blasting them until the candy comes out. Even with Grav's admitted weakness in the control department, my Grav/NRG Dom feels like an unstoppable wrecking ball. She won't win any farming championships, but her combination of control and crushing single target damage makes for a very gratifying, surgical playstyle.
so, I've started a couple of doms... but none have gotten over the early 20's yet, and all of them are definitely becoming more vulnerable, I've heard this goes away and they get really great again. am i to assume that that is correct? i would love for all of them to "turn the corner", but I'm worried that it may just be that i need more defenses to play correctly
Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.
screw your joke, i want "FREEM"

They get the best early safety. Earth has an AoE stun plus AoE hold, and those are very handy. Plant has confuse plus aoe hold, plus creepers.
/earth has some decent defense in the form of stuns and knocks. /Psi also and it adds the +regen from drain psyche.
Mix and match from those selections and you should have a safer experience.
Also, it is a really key thing to get recharge, accuracy and hold slotted into your single-target hold power ASAP. It is worth spending the money on IOs as low as level 15 to get a few triples in there. I like the Paralytic triple and acc/rech because I can usually buy them for 1k inf and get the salvage as a drop just by playing. Neuronic Shutdown's triple is harder to find but not impossible, and with those two triples and the acc/rech all at level 18 you have:
37.6% acc, 37.6% rech, 23.2% hold.
So two +3 So's and 1 -2 SO worth of enhancement but slotted at level 15 instead of level 22 and it will never expire on you in the middle of a mission. (also, it is less expensive than 3 so's if you're patient or lucky).
Learning to cycle the single-target hold between enemies to keep the most dangerous ones locked down is key. With that slotting you can usually trap 3 enemies as long as you need to.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
This has been a public service announcement...
