Is it ethical to downvote farms?

I'd argue that no it isn't. However, I'm actually going to be far more inclined to want to run the arc. If it's bad, I'll give feedback.

Early on, I came to the conclusion that it is not ethical to 5-star a friend's arc (whether having played it or not) just because they're a friend. This has gotten me yelled at in-game more than once.

@PW - Police Woman (50 AR/dev blaster on Liberty)
TALOS - PW war journal - alternate contact tree using MA story arcs

Yeah, that's right up there with someone downrating your arc because you said something mean to them on the forums. Rate the arc, not the author.

Because I'm looking for an arc to play and all I get is farms. They are a waste of my time, even if I never click on one.

...or are the -real- farm haters the RMT's that don't want the playerbase to become independent, wealthy and beyond the temptation of their "services" ?

...
Is this sarcasm? I can't tell anymore.

No. And that's why I'm glad my friends don't write arcs anymore.

LOLWUT?

This is hilariously incorrect.

Even if every non-farming user of MA downrated every farm arc played or unplayed I doubt it will make any difference to popularity of farming or farm arcs. As more people - in my experience - farm MA than run legit content.

Well, I think the big million ticket question is, what exactly would be constructive and actually likely to work? SFMA and other tags have already failed.
Well, perhaps letting folks put 'farm' back in the name of their missions and improving the search engine to let you exclude missions that have farm in the name.

There are other aspects making it difficult to find good stories, for certain, and really just addressing that one isn't going to solve the problem either. Especially when a big problem is demoralization of the player base.

QUESTION: Is it ethical to 1-star obvious farm arcs in AE without playing them? Why or why not?
Yes... yes it is. Also, you can report it as well. I know I do on occasion.

(As to the purpose? To prevent a Farm from getting into the Hall of Fame... again. )

I dunno. Its only a violation if someone in authority enforces it as such. To them I listen. To anyone else....entertainment only.

I care little for what I'm "known for" in a make-believe superhero game. Who in their right mind would place value on such a thing?

For me, it would be the "simple" ability to flag arcs so that they don't show up for me on any searches, rather like an "ignore" list. I flag something once, and it doesn't show up again for me, locally.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

I dislike farms because, when I want to look for an arc that was designed for the purpose of being an engaging story, I can't find one amid all the blasted "chaff". I down vote them because it is one of the few tools available to me to weed them out of my searches. And frankly, I never go there looking for farms. I find farms, at best, amusing once and terminally boring thereafter.

I would love this option, and not just for farms. People create plenty of legitimate arcs that I will never ever have any interest in playing.

your actions are what define you. to that I would place value. your hands. dirty them however you see fit. just know others see you too.

personally, I wouldn't do such a thing. I like myself too much.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

I actually found an AE farm ages ago, and it was the inspiration for my wanting to make an AE arc myself. It was absolutely hilarious!

The map was supposed to be the inside of a barn, (abandoned warehouse) and of course you had the "silage tanks". (Ambush triggers)

The ambushes and mobs were fire enemies, naturally, but they were all decked out like farmers. The mission introduction was hysterical and the contact looked like a real yokel. He said about how the competition is destroying his livlihood and that big farm, you must destroy it.

It was blatently a farm, but they had actually put some real effort into at least trying to make it funny.

I wish I could remember its name, or the handle for the chap or chapess that made it.
