Diamagnetic or Reactive against AV's?

Howdy! I was wondering which Interface slot would be more effective for a tank to take on an AV or GM. I'm thinking either Reactive with the DoT, or Diamagnetic with the 100% chance for -regen.

Basically, does the DoT in Reactive outdamage the regen of an AV or GM that Diagmagnetic would debuff?

Thanks Silas! Oh man, why would anyone want Diamagnetic then?

Because Diamagnetic is very useful for defense based characters such as Tanks, Brutes and Scrapper. It adds a ToHit Debuff that staks very well with their defense, that's why.

When you are on a defense character running soft capped defense or just under soft capped defense, the Diamagnetic works very well in giving you that extra edge of survivability.

I run the following on my defense characters:

Diamagnetic Core Flawless Interface: 100% -ToHit Debuff, 50% -regen

Keep in mind the if you're running the Very Rare which I posted above each attack has a chance to proc and does stack up to 4 times. The debuff for the above is:

ToHit Debuff: -5% per attack when it procs
-Regen: -15% per attack when it procs

Not everyone needs to be a damagewhore other buffs/debuffs go a long way as well.

while thats good for most enemies, the AVs will also resist the tohit debuff quite a bit too, so you wont get a lot of mileage out of that either, 85% resist on 5% debuff means it drops to about .75% per application, which with a 4 stack is only -3% total instead of -20% on a normal enemy, -3% is almost negligible when considering the con difference to the player plus their acc bonus

it helps, but almost nothing, sort of like the -regen, it helps, but it wont hardly be noticeable

And the same can be said about the damaging proc as well. It too is resisted more so by AVs. This conversation can go back and forth all day long with the same arguments. My point was, Diamagnetic is not a useless Interface Ability. It works fantastically for normal mobs and makes you more survivable. It does so with AVs too, considering it does stack with other debuffs from other player that aren't Incarnate abilities.

yeah, wasnt really trying to nitpick or anything, but from what ive noticed reactive is a helluva lot more help with its DoT than the debuffs from the other interface abilities

pretty much all my toons go reactive because it a LOT more noticeable than anything else

i also like to fight tough targets more, and debuffs being resistable are not worth it, the AVs do not resist the fire dmg from reactive at all really unless they have fire resistance

For my tanker, I decided to go with Reactive to get a bit more damage out of him. I solo a lot lately and it helps. However, with my fire/SD scrapper I went Diamagnetic for the -tohit debuff and -regen (so many AoEs!) to help his survivability since he's just barely above the softcap.

I have both the Tier 3 Diamagnetic and Reactive on my fire tank. Depending on the rest of the team make-up, I'll choose between the two. If I'm soloing/farming I'll generally go with the Reactive. When I'm on a team, unless they're trying to do one of the Lambda badge runs, I'll generally switch to Diamagnetic. It's nice having the flexibility.

Yes, provided that it is not already stacked to the maximum allowable (which will almost always certainly be the case in team AV fights).

Flawless Reactive is 5x15 fire damage - nearly twice the average damage of purple damage procs. In every attack.

This is where I'm working. I'm going Diamagnetic first then will build a reactive. As noted by Laevateinn often on teams Reactive is already stacked to the cap. At least i'll add something different.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

I did that too. I have Reactive for soloing and Paralytic for when I'm on a team. I'm stacking -damage from Chilling Embrace, Darkest Night, and Paralytic and the -damage from Judgement Void for 30 out of every 90 seconds. It seems to work pretty well.

I think Interface is a slot that lends itself to swapping powers in and out.
