The casting call is wide open:

Smith is producing a new reality series, which will be filmed in his New Jersey comic book store, The Secret Stash. A casting call for the show was recently posted on Facebook, saying Smith was, "not looking for actors, he's looking for real people who live and breath the comic book lifestyle. Must be funny outgoing and have a knowledge and passion for comics, superheroes, movie memorabilia and everything that goes with it not looking for actors, he's looking for real people who live and breath the comic book lifestyle. Must be funny outgoing and have a knowledge and passion for comics, superheroes, movie memorabilia and everything that goes with it."
I'm unsure what a "comic book lifestyle" might entail, but I could be induced to make a cameo appearance to extol Hal Jordan as The One True Green Lantern.

I think what the "comic book lifestyle" some people think it is, is someone who spends $50+ a week on comic and other stuff; wears nothing but t-shirts with comic characters on them. Don't get me wrong, I've been a comic/SciFi/Fantasy geek for decades and I'm afraid this could give the comic sellers a bad name. Most of mainstream usually think comic buyers need to "get a life", and this might just prove it. Of course I just might be over thinking it and it just might do well. It would be nice to see something like this succeed.

just my two cents....

If Walt Flannigan and Bryan Johnson are involved, I'll watch it.

He closed the Secret Stash on the West coast. The shop in Jersey is still there.

He closed his LA branch which never matched the business of his Jersey store.

Really interested in what happens with this show, Tell 'em Steve Dave is a great podcast, would love to see them on TV.

The words "comic book lifestyle" creep me out, and I'm someone who likes comics. I expect this'll be yet another "look at what trainwrecks these people are" show. I can hardly fault the network for doing that to geekdom, though. All reality shows have more or less that same premise, regardless of their milieu. I never knew there were so many flat-out irritating people on earth until the reality TV boom.

Personally, I can't imagine why anyone would care about a reality show set in some guy's comic store. When I read the thread title, I thought, "Coming soon: a reality show set in O'lantern's kitchen!" Yes, soon, we will all be on reality shows.

I don't think it will be like that. Kevin Smith is certainly involved in the production, and being that he IS a comic book fan, I don't think he'll try to make everyone look like a bunch of lifeless nerds. They did say they are looking for funny and outgoing people. I imagine this is basically an attempt at making Clerks into a less offensive reality TV show while focusing almost exclusively on the type of nerd banter that was featured in Clerks.

What do you think FaceBook and Twitter are all about?

If it's like the record store scenes in High Fidelity, I'd watch it.
