High level players, grinding crafted enhancements to earn badges, pay way more for that salvage than it's worth, to you, to use it to craft things you'll use. Craft on-the-fly, while very low level, and you'll constantly be out of inf until you're well into your 30s. Ditto if you vendor everything. Other than accepting a donation from a higher-level friend, the single most reliable way to afford to fully-enhance your character is to use the auction house to vend low-level common salvage.
Pricing anything at the auction house for 1 inf is asking to lose money. Because if it does get bought for 1 inf, then you lose money because you had to pay 5 inf to post it. I've had it happen to me. I find it better to put the minimum a little above what the vendors will pay because there will always be rich and impatient characters who will pay more to get it now. It's also worth checking on uncommon and rare salvage to see what it's going for and if there are people bidding on it. Some IO's are better to have at a lower level so you don't lose its bonus if you exemp down. Also, some costume and temp power recipes will need lower level uncommon and rare salvage which can keep the price high.

Also, sell or auction all level 10 common IO recipes. Don't waste your salvage and inf crafting them. Wait till level 12 and craft lvl 15 IO's if you can since they are about the same as dual-origin enhancements and you don't have to worry about outleveling them for a while. I'd wait to to the crafting tutorial till level 12 so you can get a free lvl 15 IO out of it.

You miss out on his missions, which is a pity -- you should do his missions at least once -- but if you choose Kalinda rather than Burke for your first contact redside and do her missions, when you reach levels 20 and 30 you will be able to call her to get your cape and aura missions. Blueside, you have to physically go to the City Representative in AP to get those missions.

Read the Tutorial. Twice.

After a month, go back and read it yet again.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Do the tutorial Outbreak until you can do it in your sleep! Read it every time because you may have missed something!

Oh, and killing 100 Contaminated in Outbreak will get you a badge.

Make sure you do the missions from Montague in Steel Canyon. After you finish a bunch of them, you will get access to the Midnighters Club. Which gives you a couple more map jumps and two badges.

When a mission says to defeat a boss, you have to defeat all of his helpers in the room even if they are on a higher or lower floor to get credit.

Actually, that was joke for the folks that have been around awhile. It has been at least 6 years since I have heard anyone ask that.

You are however, correct, so in that spirit, here is a guide to COH acronyms.

You can get to the roof of most buildings without a travel power. Simply hop from window sill to window sill til you reach the top. Many buildings also have ramps/stairs.

Craft your inventions in AE!!

Play "Crafter's Cafe" - Arc #487283. A 1 mission, NON-COMBAT AE arc with workable invention tables!

Combat Jumping will let you "walk" up most high walls as long as they are not perfectly vertical.

Here are a few web links that will help you with a variety of questions:

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page Paragon Wiki is put together by players and gives you detailed info on everything from what each power can do to what missions each contact will give you.

http://www.badge-hunter.com/index.php?/page/maps.php BadgeHunter/VidiotMaps provides info on every available badge that can be earned in the game and what yoou need to do to earn them. Vidiotmaps provides prinatable and interactive maps of every in game zone. Showing where all the stores, badges, history plague, exits to other zones, transport locations and what bad guys are in what part of each zone and the level range they will be.

http://www.cohplanner.com/ Midi's Hero Planner lets you download a program that will let you plan out your character's build from level 1 to level 50 and shows you what you can expect to get out of each power based on the enhancements you slot into each.

And don't forget these forums. Many of the players here have build guides that detail everything from how to play a particular AT to how to successfully complete the most difficult Task Force or trial.

Someone else metioned it but it never hurts to repeat a good idea.. Find anyone in game that can direct you to the global channels that assist you. These may include:

Task Force channels- teams looking for members for every TF or Trial

LFG channel - just players looking for team mates to do everything from newpaper/radio missions to those TFs mentioned above

Badge channels - sounds like something you's avoid if you aren't all that into badges BUT every task force and trial in game offers up a badge so its another spot leader will advertise on when building a team. Same is true for many other things.. Giant Monsters = badges. Zone events like the Rikti Invasions, Zombie Invasions, Banner events and even Trick or Treat (Halloween) and Winter Events all offer up badges so when time permits leaders will advertise here if they are trying to fill a team.

HELP channel - LOL obviously a place to go to ask that question that is driving you insane! Oh that one is already in your tray you don't need to hunt for it

the BEST advice I can offer is don't be afraid to ask anything. This game has a very friendly community and while you MAY get one or two comments about being new .. You'll also get several that will actually answer your question and these could even lead to friendships and finding a new player to team with on a regular basis. OKAY let's clarify that was the second best advice.. BEST advice is HAVE FUN!
