Recipe drops while exemplarred
As far as I know, recipes you get for beating things down are based on the level of the target. Recipes you get from end of mission completion, day jobs, and things like that are based on your actual level.
I believe it works like this:
generic io recipes end up around the level you are exemplared to.
set io recipes end up at the maximum level they can be at based on your lvl and the level of the recipe
so for example if you are lvl 50 but exemplared to 25 for a task force and you get a Kinetic Combat recipe (max lvl 35) you'll receive a lvl 35 recipe. If you got a LotG recipe it would be 50 and if you got a generic recharge io recipe it would be 25.
I am think that is how it works but I could be mistaken.
I guess the idea is that the "good stuff" is the max lvl it can be in relation to your lvl and the recipe min/max and the generic stuff is level appropriate to where you are exemplared so as not to give you big influence gains (from selling) for doing lower level content.
If I am mistaken i am sure someone will come along and correct me soon enough!

If you're a level 50 fighting a level 25 boss and he randomly drops a rare recipe that's a Kinetic Combat, it'll be a level 25 recipe.
If you're a level 50, finish the mission and you are awarded with a rare recipe, it will be level 50, or the max level of the set if that is lower.

That's actually incorrect. Anything that drops from a mob will be the level of the mob.

You can also get uncommon recipes as mission rewards. I was simply using rare as my example.

So, in summary of my wrongness, while exemplared all drops will be the level of the enemy except for mission reward drops, which will be the actual level of the player (or the recipe set).

And clearly I need to pay better attention to what I'm getting. Thanks everyone.

Ah, thank you. My understanding, actually my misunderstanding, is that you get rares from mission completes. Nearly 7 years of playing this game and I'm still learning.

You can also get Temp recipes as it turns out for the reward

Temporary Powers cannot be Mission Drop bonuses; Temporary Powers are dropped by defeating enemies. However, you can get a Temporary Power by defeating the last required enemy, and that makes it look like the Temporary Power was awarded by mission complete. However, it wasn't.

And you can get rares from boss defeats, to confuse the matter even further.

... and as mentioned, you can get a common/pool A drop from Day Jobs (hang out in Ouro, and every mission you complete gets you a bonus IO.) I believe those drops are based on your true level.
So if you start empty and run a Sister Psyche, you could finish, check your recipes, and have both a level 25 and 50 Invention: Accuracy .

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
Ran the Terra Volta trial last night, and got like seven common IO recipe drops at level 35. I think the only "Invention" recipe drop I got was the St. Louis Slammer, which I get so freaking often that I just automatically delete it.
In summary, it looks like its working just the way everyone said.
Thanks again.

Temporary Power drops are separate from Mission Drops. Mission Drops are restricted to "Pool B" drops. These are all of the "Pool B" drops.
Temporary Powers cannot be Mission Drop bonuses; Temporary Powers are dropped by defeating enemies. However, you can get a Temporary Power by defeating the last required enemy, and that makes it look like the Temporary Power was awarded by mission complete. However, it wasn't. |
I really hope one day they just do away with actualy getting them as drops and just let them purchase the recipes at the invention table.
Enjoy your day please.

Exactly and I used that when i was working toward my portable Field Crafting table. If I ran a Sister Psyche, max level 25, all of the salvage and recipes that dropped were in that level range. The bonus I got at the end of the TF was a 50 level .. A reward for being successful and one I could conceivably use to enhance myself when i left the team. Everything that drops ruring the TF will be at the level of the mobs.. You may also notice that no SO or DO enhancements drop if you are exemplared. However at the end you may get one that is your level .. 50 or whatever

This is probably a dumb question, with a fairly obvious answer, but what the heck, I'll ask anyway.
If I'm level 50 and I'm explarred to say lvl 30 for a task/strike force, at what level will recipes drop for me? Sometimes it seems like I get level 30 recipes and sometimes I seem to get level 50.
The wiki says recipes drop based on the true level of the enemy while exemplarred, but I could swear I've gotten level 50 common IO recipes when doing the Sister Psyche TF with a lvl 50 character.
Is the wiki wrong? Are recipe drops based on the true level of the PC and/or the maximum level of the recipe?
