Obsoleted by Incarnate powers
My electric blaster has the Rare Ion Judgement slotted, and, guess what? I still use my nuke plenty.
The Judgement slot is just another tool in the destruction I can mete out.
As far as the buffs and whatnot destroying the buffing classes, I disagree here again. The standard power buffs are a much better constant and much better stacked. The Destiny buffs fade too quickly and recharge too slowly. They're nice to have to get the team out of a pinch, but they're hardly dependable.
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
Looking at the next 5 slots, I think Mind might be some kind of mez protection, and Vitae might be an HP/endurance boost - both could be inherent, or toggles.

To passerby I thought the unbalance was being caused by the team as a whole. Its not like I didn't pay attention to their health bars. I would stop or slow up on attacking the AVs when they got out of balance but a lot of times the damage was already done and it was happening so fast that I didn't have the time to consider that I was the cause of it. I thought the whole team was just awesome. It wasn't until that one BAF where the league leader caught on that I was doing to much damage to fast that I knew. Now that I know I have adjusted depending on the team I'm running with. If I didn't adjust after I found out, through trial and error I might add, that I was causing the problem then I would be a bad player and need to lrn2play. I might have been unitentionally causing problems but I wasn't griefing which is a large part of what they accused me of.
So no in short I was not oblivious to the HPs of the AVs. I just had one of those sudden realizations. Something along the lines of, "Wait a second. I was the one doing that... Cool." I should also point out that it was happening fast enough that the others on that AV kept attacking after I stopped, compounding the problem. Those same others were also the ones who pointed that fact out to the two who were throwing a fit, who I might add were on the ambush team and both ended up getting the rare table at the end. The leader ended up kicking them since they wouldn't let it go, recruited some more, we ran another master run, and were very successful that time.
By the way I still shake my head at the idea of doing too much damage. I can't wait to show Tyrant, the Praetorian Hamidon, and the Coming Storm too much damage.
Work in progress no more. I have decided that I'm going to put my worst spelling errors here. Triage Bacon, Had this baster idea, TL

I just unlocked my Judgement and I expected fun things. I took Void because it was thematic. It's a big bag, but maybe I should have taken another one.
It's only tier one, and well...It looks wierd, does not do a heck of a lot of damage (Well...more than my other options because I am a controller player) and it's PbAOE which means I'm vunlerable to attacks.
I think the only powers that make me thing things are out of whack are still Judgement and Lore Pets.
Just an update on the blaster I was talking about above.
I've gotten every slot to tier 3 except for judgment. Yesterday I ran into a problem. My best guess is that I do too much damage. I ran several BAF tirals yesterday. The ones I ran in the morning I was taking care of the ambushes during a few master run attempts(damn lag during the prisoner phase). In the afternoon during about 4 different master run attempts I was placed on one of the AVs during the final phase. Whichever AV I was placed on would get seriously out of balance, 15-25% less than the other, with the others health in about 20-40 seconds. Normally I would say that the whole team I was on was just awesome and the team on the other AV just needed improvement. However, the last run I did the leader asked me to switch AVs in an attempt to balance the damage being done to the AVs. As soon as I switched over to the other AV the same thing happenned again. It took about 30 seconds but the other AV caught up with and then got seriously out of balance very quickly. The other progressed at an average rate, about the same speed the other team was going when I wasn't over there. The AVs ended up repowering and we tried it again. Once again whichever AV I was on would have its health drop far faster than the other. The league leader caught on and sent me over to the ambush team. From there they had no problem balancing the AV's health and finishing the trial. Anyways after the trial we were sitting around in Pocket D and some of the other players asked what the hell was happenning with AVs. The league leader explained that I did to much damage and that when I was moved over to the ambush team the balance problems disappeared. Most of the players were poking a little fun at me or congratulating me on for building such a damaging character. Two players exploded though. I don't keep chat logs so to summarize the paragraph they wrote in their outrage they asked why in the hell I couldnt see that the AV health was getting to low and slow up my attacking. Apparently I cause them to lose some very valuable minutes of their lives and they think I should lrn2play. So am I a bad player because my blaster does too much damage and I didn't notice that fact until it was pointed out to me. That and as a Blaster shouldn't I be shaking my head disapprovingly at the concept of too much damage. |
I've switched many times when my target was getting ahead, only to have that target then pull ahead and I have to switch back. But I don't know how many other people are thinking the same thing I am. However, on that Separated run there's no question I was the swing damage. I suspect, though, that any well-slotted Blaster would have been equally significant in that situation. Its just a question of how the teams' damage happens to balance out on that run.

It doesn't do overwhelming damage at tier 2, but it does enough to make me smile when I use it.
I took Ion with my main, who is a Claws/Regen scrapper. It was the closest to a concept fitting power that was available. Of course, my main is a cyborg too, so I can explain damn near anything as simply being an upgrade to his systems. That one feels a little broken, and way more powerful than it should be.

I took Void as well for concept reasons. He's a Broadsword/Dark Armor scrapper, it's the only Judgement that made any sense at all for him. It's actually kinda cool looking for him, looks like his Death Shroud just exploded.

So Void...being negative energy worked! I was pleased. Although on a scrapper a PBAOE woould be great. As a controller it sort of leaves me more open for attacks, but Ill trade saftey for theme.
But the pets. Man. Im looking at them all and well. I don't know if any of them make sense for my creation, but I am assuming that this is happening to half of he community.
Even though it could be just a simple write up of captureing, brain washing, befriending, freeing the mind of, or hacking one of these pets.
I'm skipping Judgement until there's a physical attack tree, like stamping your foot or punching the ground

Mine is a Grav/FF/Psi. The main concept is that she was a Kheld and then sepperated. So she mutated. Gravity made sense, Forcefields made sense, I developed the Psi aspect for her because of the empathic quality of being merged with the Kheld, and so it worked out.

And I hesitated to take Reactive on my electric blaster at first, but then I realized electricity CAN set stuff on fire.

The pets are the only part of any of this I'm having a problem justifying thematically. My electric blaster is a technology person, so I went with the Clockwork. My electric brute went with the Seers, because...well, for no real reason.

However, I don't think this interpretation of the descriptions is correct. I read the description as meaning that you have been studying these foes and have used the touch of god-like power from the Well to take your knowledge of that foe and manifest it physically. This makes a lot more sense for the non-human pets, since it seems hard to imagine a Battle Orb would have a soul to bind.
If you're up for that explanation, it's sort of the ultimate "out" from a concept perspective, assuming you're willing to go with the concept of gaining godlike power at all.

What specifically do you find egregious with Destiny? Why would you want my Tier 4 Destiny Rebirth nerfed? Do you not like getting healed and getting a few extra hit points to save you from faceplanting?

The Well gives Tyrant and his minions Incarnate power - which is shaped to fit the people it empowers - giving a Clockwork increased psychic power for example, wouldn't help as it has no psychic power to increase - so a Clockwork would receive the power in a way that would boost it in the most efective way - like increasing its firepower and strengthening its armor.
When that Clockwork is defeated, the Incarnate power it had returns to the Well, but keeps the "pattern" it had while it was empowering the Clockwork - and an incarnate player, who's linked to the Well, can then draw out that pattern for their own use - and a Seer gets empowered by the Well in a a different way to boost her powers, so when she's defeated the Incarnate power in her returns to the Well in a pattern that matches her.
All the Lore pets are "imprints" - they're manifestations of Incarnate power that take the shape of the person or machine that the power was used on.

On iTrials, the damage output from my dark/pain corr feels somewhat negligible (until reinforcements where she can happily Anguishing Cry+Void+cone+cone+cone away), but other than that she's still my happy little toolbox of things to do, and other people becoming more toolboxy too doesn't invalidate that at all, it just means I do other things on her.
And for months I'd been saying mez was her only true weakness. Clarion<3
Regular lvl 50 TFs and SFs are getting a little too trivial, though. And steamrolled. Team a lvl 45 character trying to lvl up with a team of a handful of incarnates and some regular 50s doing a WST, that character isn't quite so useful.
But really, my only annoyance with the incarnate powers is how people whine about not having them when exemp'd down to a lower TF/SF. "Yeah, you've been yapping about how cool your judgements are for the past two missions and how they'd tear through this Moonfire. Grrreat. Such interesting conversation."
Not everyone's worshiping their 50s because of this. I still have altitis and there's still reasons I make sure my characters work when exemp'd.
