Why is Classic Team UI not Classic?

Also perhaps we should get them a dictionary.

Aside from your unnecessary endgame bashing, I agree. It's a bit annoying that classic isn't classic.
The new classic is also painful to read. Green text on an identical green background with only a vague dropshadow to separate them is horrid. It's also bugged and team-mate numbers are sub-microscopic.
Welcome to Issue 20: Eye Strain.
Fix this, please. I won't hold you to task for greenlighting such awful design in the first place, but at least fix it so it doesn't stab me in the eye every time I try to read the names of my team-mates.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Or New Coke, I guess.

Of all the complaints people have with Issue 20 and the various design decisions therein, I think this is possibly the single most valid. Why change it at all? More importantly, why is the 'classic' option not actually the same as the old UI? There's literally no reason to change it in the first place beyond consistency with the new league window, and even less reason to not leave the actual old interface as an option rather than this other equally new one. Maybe the guy who gave it the go ahead was blind?

So am I the only one that expected when I was given the choice to use the WoW, sorry, 'new' Team UI or the classic team UI that using the 'old' version would actually be the same thing I've always had? Was it that much of a problem to leave it alone? The new 'classic' verison has smaller bars, different text, and a slightly different layout.

Plus it's scriptable so if you don't like it there you can always change it with addons.
The old team interface was at least decent, if not terribly flexible. The new "classic" is ugly, and the team numbering is so tiny that it's unreadable.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

They are using the Coca Cola definition of classic, which is almost but not quite just like how it originally was. Remember how there was the big BLEH over new Coke, so they then released Coke Classic? Turns out Coke Classic was not the previous formula. (Getting rid of real sugar for liquid evil, aka corn syrup means you are not using the previous formula). Likewise, the classic interface is obviously not the same as the previous interface.

Return of the real classic would be welcomed here too.

Neither the new white on gradiented and highlighted green or the bright green on bright green pseudo-classic can be read without my eyes pulling. The new window auto-scales to insane while docked and the "classic" blatantly isn't.
For reference - since the new UI designer doesn't seem to have ever seen the rest of the game.
<-- "Classic" | Actual old UI -->
Until this is fixed I seem to be on an involuntary sabbatical
My guess is that the old UI system was pitched entirely, and the "Classic" option is the closest that they can get the new system, whatever it is (without lots more work).
That said, as a stick-in-the-mud with a late 2004 join date, I'd like to have something even closer to what we had, please.

If they can't change the colours to be the same saturation as the old UI then there is something seriously wrong with their graphics department.
As for the changes in style there has been a continual shift from the lozenge shapes found everywhere throughout the game UI to rounded rectangles wherever they can fit them into new additions, regardless of whether they fit the look or feel of the rest of the UI. I can't understand why whenever something needs tweaking to add new features they redesign the UI element from scratch without paying any attention to whether it is stylistically consistant.

Classic was added after complaints, but I guess they've tried to get as close as they can under the new UI architecture.

To my eyes, the "classic" team menu is a botched rush job, and it looks terribly unprofessional of what is supposed to be a professional development team.

*shrug* It sometimes bugs me that the new power icons (for Walk, Ninja Run, etc) aren't quite in the same style, line weight, etc as the ones from launch, 7 years ago... but what can you do? They may not even have access to the art assets needed to recreate them properly - just screenshots, like the rest of us.

I think the same UI guy also did the "new" market UI. Both horrible designs.

Honestly if it's not the main focus of an issue I think I've reached the point where I just expect it to look rushed out by the intern or tossed in with the hope nobody would notice.
That doesn't explain why the color scheme would be off. Even if they deleted the old UI off of the Beta server they still were running the old version on the Live servers. It's not like whoever made the "classic" version was forced to try and redo the colors from memory or pictures and couldn't quite get them to match up. The old version was readily available at all times during the development of the "classic" version.

While I understand its apparently the decision of the Dev team to try and force the WoW raiding paradigm on us as a poor excuse for endgame, I can ignore that. If you're going to give me the option of using a 'classic' version of something you change though, please try to actually mean it and leave the old version alone. It worked just fine and didn't need any fixing.
