Contact missions never end?!

Just a quick question, I have a contact in Cimerora named Marcus Valerius and he keeps on giving me missions after missions. When I ask about missions he gives me two options always. His status is Confidant. I would love to finish his missions and get him off of my contact list. I've done about 7-10 of these little missions for him and was wondering when they are going to stop...

Thanks

P.S. Is there a way to delete previous threads that I've created or can only moderators get rid of them.

They're not going to stop. Marcus is a contact that gives out a neverending stream of missions. For other such contacts, see the wiki page.

You can try clicking Edit and then delete. But if you had a question answered, please don't delete it. Someone else may have the same question and find yours during a search. It helps cut down on repeated posts.

Nope. Just ignore him.

Good one! I was just trying to bring life to my posts...guess it didn't work as well as I thought. I take it that it's not only my teachers that hate Comic Sans.

If you don't like repeatable missions, don't talk to Borea in the Rikti War Zone, any of the contacts in the Shadow Shard, or the contacts in the PvP zones that hand out missions. Those will never drop from your list either.

(And if you're in the Hollows, don't talk to Meg Mason. She gives out repeatables as well).

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't really see the point in repeatable missions. If their is a point could someone please point it out.

(YES! I used "point" three times in that reply!)

The primary point was to fill in gaps (especially pre-Ouroboros and pre-AE and pre-XP-While-Exemped), along with something for 50s to do. There's the variety because, beyond newspapers/radios, they generally deal with special enemies (such as Rularuu, Cimerorans), or offer special rewards (each Borea mission gives a vanguard merit as a reward... or was it multiple? something like that!).

There used to be level ranges in which there never never seemed to be enough content. The contacts with never ending missions made it so that you could never run out of missions, and the experience bonus for completing them. It sucked to have to street sweep that last level to get up to level 45 so that your Contacts would give you the next round of Contacts.

Now, with XP smoothing, side switching, new zones and new mid and high level story arcs, this is not such an issue. On the other hand, the endless contacts are good when you only have a bubble or two to the next level, and it is advantageous to do one of those missions instead of a long or dual part mission and level up right at the beginning of it.

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

It's the most despised font in all of graphic design.

Are you angry at the police scanner too? It always gives out missions. (If you are in a level-appropriate zone.)

The active contact tab always shows contacts who could give you a mission. Once you've been introduced to Marcus Valerius, he is always available to give you a Cimerora mission. That's not a bad thing.

My first character ran out of contacts who were offering missions, more than once. That's a lot worse than having someone that can provide content, should you wish it.

Like fighting Rikti, earning Vanguard Merits, and earning mission completion xp? Then Borea will be your go to gal.

Like filling up your inspiration tray with tier-2 inspirations, whenever you want? Repeatable Kora fruit missions in the Shadow Shard.

You might not think there is a point to having missions of different types available whenever you want, your mileage is varying than mine.

Especially where Borea is concerned, where Incarnates can use her repeatable missions for both Vanguard Merits and Incarnate Shards, along with the standard Influence and Purple Drops, I'm beginning to realize this:

FARM is nothing more than an acronym for "Fulfill A Repeatable Mission."

Yet I'm still glad they're there, because I remember having to street-sweep back in the old days when I was out of contacts, and because they are the easy ways for soloers to grab Incarnate shards other than street-sweep now.

How peculiar.... I would think people who actually play through the content (many people don't) would be happy to know that there's a never ending source of content out there should they want to keep playing their toons. It's not like completing all the story arcs means you win.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

Some people get tired of doing the exact same missions over and over and over and over again. You don't have to do the missions back to back to get sick of being told to get the PLOT Device from so and so.

The never ending contacts have a finite number of missions to choose from.

Well, if the repeatable missions were coded in a controlled, randomized way (other than spawns/maps) then they would feel more like "never ending content" than farmable content. I know that practically all content ends up falling into "ad nauseum" mode sooner or later, however after going through each repeatable mission about 4 times on the same toon, it doesn't feel like never ending content any more.

Speaking more generally on that: I'm greatly encouraged by the additional coding of the Going Rogue mission content, including the repeatable tip missions. I sincerely hope the mission-writing developers eventually put into place ways to automate content generation across a wider set of parameters so that it feels less repetitive - given what they've recently done, I think they can do exactly that.
