SOA and the level 50 content
I was trying to get on an ITF last night with my SoA and just couldn't get anyone to invite me, but when I switched to my Ill/Rad controller I was invited immediately. I think the SoA brings almost as much to the team as the troller, but I guess others just don't see it that way. Of course the Ill/Rad is what I always bring out when I really feel like teaming.

Although, personally, I don't think it's hard enough to really care who you bring for the most part. Often, the time spent trying to find the perfect team will amount for more time than the savings from just pretty much PuGing it (I've actually joined a PuG STF while another one was only accepting certain characters, and we got to the last mission before they were even starting).

This thread is like the twilight zone for me. I have never heard anything but "hell yes more VEATs!" when the possibility of having a VEAT join comes up.
last friday, i did 3 ITFs - one on a speced out controller (ill/kin), an about to hit perma-dom dominator (ice/fire), and a recently i19 speced with only SOs SoA (pure bane).
all went nice and smooth as complete PuGs with none of that 'we need X or we'll fail/take forever' stuff. and i'm sure that surveillance and shatter armor helped a lot , not to mention stacked maneuvers (even though my end bottomed out often) and being able to quickly take out the healers.
next time someone passes over your SoA, just start another team and rock it PuG-style while they are looking for whatever they think they need. clearly the team leader doesn't know any better or isn't a good player to begin with.

Just did Tin Mage last night with my usual groupie. The first run took 40mins (two Banes, defender, corr, blaster).
The second run we had one bane, two fortunata (51) and one crab and one /trap Corr and 3 Brutes. I thought for sure the 2nd run would take longer but we finished 2nd run in 35mins.
So yeah, SoA still rocks!
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
As teams form, I tend to keep an eye on team composition to see if I could maybe bring something more helpful. I don't with my VEATS though. I know they will ALWAYS bring something, even when TT:M may be overkill on high Def teams.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)
The only decision I have to make is would I rather bring
Offense: 21% Defense All to the Team, AoE Damage, and -80% resist for ST targets.
or
Defense: 29% Defense All to the Team, Mostly Single Target, with AoE Controls
This is twilight stuff indeed. Nothing makes me happier than inviting a pair of Widows/Banes or one of each along because two SoA = almost soft capped defenses for all if they take leadership toggles on top of Arachnos toggles. Four is just wonderful because your talking about a base +160 to damage for all if we bunch up. After four you hit diminishing returns because those other four spots could be filled out with say a Sonic controller who boosts the neglected resist side of things or a Willpower/Invul tank to play sheep dog to quickly gather mobs for more efficient doom. Or a Radiation for great debuffs +more endurance.
I always snag a SoA over any other class if running an ITF or STF or any of the WTF. Unlike Warshades (*Sigh) having them there makes everyone get even more awesome.

VEATs are amazing. You'd be foolish to turn one down under most circumstances, and even more foolish if you think having more VEATs would be bad.
Actually, I recently put together my regular team of friends +1 pick up for an All VEAT speed ITF.
22 Minutes isn't the best time, but it's not too shabby either.
We need a healer and a tank, lol.
everytime someone says "Healer" I want to cringe :P
I haven't had any problems, whenever I broadcast/Use a channel saying I need a BAF or Lambda, I'm usually invited right away
Magisterum- 50+3 Fortunata--Virtue
Lukerion- 33 Emp/Rad Defender--Virtue
Noah Heartily- 34 SS/SD brute- Virtue
Mika Heartily- 50+1 Fire/MM blaster-Virtue
Nothing is more sexier than two Widows... Me and my wife both rolled Widows and it is hard to not play them, 4x Assaults + 4x Maneuvers +2x Mindlinks= 2 Badass MoFos tearing down everything in their paths with 0 mercy or discretion
Last night on Victory, I joined an ITF. It was hugely successful. We had plant/thermal control, empathy defender, rad/rad defender, 2 tanks, a brute, a bots/traps MM and my little widow. Stacking the defense shields, fortitude, thermal resist shields were clearly game-breaking (especially when I got a taste of the adrenalin boost). We had no issues of too many melee folks/pets around Rommie. We kicked his butt.
I hear a lot of ... oh we need debuffs or oh do we have heals?, and the ever persistent we need a tank and more damage dealers. I propose, all SoA aficionados start chattering in team channel, "What another scrapper? That's like half a hero; we need a bane or a widow or a crab with some team buffs to go with the uber damage sauce." Seriously, the empath couldn't fort everyone, but layering some mind link (which has a nice to-hit component for -3 robot minions) on top of Forcefield generator on last night's team and the thermal buffs was almost sick and wrong. All the SoA have good layering defenses. So get on the global channel, "LF SoA" when running your level 50 content
