How the f**k do you get the badge for NOT triggering any mines? Jesus what a pain in the *** that whole fight is.

Having run this thing twice I'm still not sure what I'm doing. Maybe I'm having a senior moment or am just slow but could some one break the whole thing down for me? I got the kill the War Walkers part. Just everything else.

Simple way: prep for a beat down.

The most common method so far is enter D11's room and wait out the countdown timer on the glowies.

Take the ambushes.

THEN start clicking the glowies.

When you get down to ONE GLOWY... STOP

Have everybody gather at D11's spawn point.

If you don't know where the spawn point is, go back to the door to the room. The wall on your left is lined with several boxes. D11 will spawn about in the middle of this wall in a clear space in the boxes.

At this point, start summoning Pets. Shivan's or HVAS's are best.

Once the Pets are spawned, have a single player go and click the last glowie.

As the player is clicking, trigger any and all PBAOE buffs

D11 will spawn in, and proceed to get hammered by your team and the pets.

Defeat him in under 30 seconds, and you'll get the mine layer badge.

Pains me to say, but the above poster is pretty much how I have seen it done. Get pets and such like nukes, buff up, spawn the mob, hammer down ASAP.

On a side note, normally, I believe the devs have reasons for doing certain things in the game, and accept it as part of their design. But if it comes to light that the players can find no other way to get this badge and it is required/expected for us to use temps/pets to get the badge, here is a case I find it wrong since those things are optional (as are badges it could be said). Maybe they want players to go into PvP zones and pick up the powers and/or burn merits for VG pets. But I find that a far stretch. I guess time will tell if other ways are possible.

The suspicion is that the D11 fight was balanced against Incarnate Abilities that have yet to be exposed to the player-base.

Have someone stay outside, rest go in click glowies, then tp recall everyone outside. Buff up, go back in, stay at door and pull D11, kill him at the door. I've only went for the Mo once and that's how we did it.

After the devs pulled the stunt with making the door one-way... I'm half-expecting an Anti-TP field.

Anyways, I ran with a team that DID try this method, but the mine-layers came up to the door and blew us up anyways.

Also ran with a team that tried to do the fight with group fly in the rafters. The mine-layers hopped up to the rafters.

Tried to do it with a team that staggered TAOE's to try and keep the mine-layers in a defeated state: ill / storm controller with freezing / ice storm; ice blast / storm corr with ice storm / freezing rain; fire blast / cold dom corr with rain of fire / sleet; and an archery something. Somebody else had a rain, I think the main tank was packing Ice storm as well. That method failed as well.

Even tried with a team loaded down with blasters and controllers with auto on the immobilize powers in an attempt to fight D11 from range. Mine layers just where-ever they pleased.

Like Penny, I just don't see, or just can't think of, a way to get the Midnight Dodger badge without relying on temp pets to generate the sustained damage needed to topple D11 in under 30 seconds.

Been on Tin Mage TFs that attempted all of these methods...I still don't have the damned badge.

I've done it "unintentionally" with mm's and controllers. If you can pin the jerk in the corner he won't run around like the pansy he is.

And he can't jump or fly.

He can't? I would swear I saw him leaping on to things when I have run this . I admittedly haven't run many of these, so maybe I am not remembering very well, but I could swear he had jumped on some of the shelves in that warehouse, or the boxes in there.

couple of points that i have seen is:

  • pets do not count for the badge so they can get hit all day
  • he can run and jump and stuff, but once you have debuffs on him and such, its pretty easy to stop him from jumping
  • it is possible while extremely difficult to get the badge without using OP methods such as zerging him with nukes and temp pets
  • there is no tp field inside the building, hence the ability to tp out
i think the badge is a good challenge, but its extremely annoying that it is team based, the only reason i can see making it team based instead of per person is that one person could just camp outside till team killed director 11 making it really easy to get the badge

i think in time with more incarnate abilities it will get a bit easier

Uhh:
1. Do not be drunk.
2. Do not queue attacks.
3. Be aware of your surroundings.
4. Optionally, have a speeder blow up mines in the periphery for saftey.
5. Move.

I've never seen him jump, though it's always possible that there's always been grounding immobs on him...

i know he definitly can jump, once had him wedge himself on like the 2nd shelf of one of those racks in the room

reason you prolly havent seen him jump is a lot of immobs have -jump and other powers like caltrops or tar patch have -jump too

This is how i did it for my masters run with the exception that we impediatly turned on jet packs and stayed in the air away from walls or shelfs where bombs could be.

Sure, it can work that way........if you don't have some random/stray/I'mprettysurenoonewasactuallyhitbutwearen'tgoingto giveyoubadgecredit bs going on. Mines can be set in and around that door as well.

There is some kind of delay before the invisomobs show up and run amok with tripmines. Massive debuffs and instadamage will net you the badge everytime if you're on him immediately.

It's a really horribly designed encounter.

I ran it with Des yesterday and we got him the badge, woot!

Different way then I did it originally. Once we went in, everyone except for Des stayed at the door. He clicked a few glowies to spawn some ambushes. We killed them as they spawned. We then moved to the AV spawn spot, pulled out shivans, bio nukes, spawned AV and took him out quickly. It went pretty quick and smooth once the AV spawned.

Couple of things learned that run. That method isn't guaranteed. When Director 11 went down, I was convinced the attempt had failed. Some mines had gone off. I tried to move away but thought I got hit. Either he dropped as I got hit, or I got REALLY lucky. Basically we were about 3-5 seconds too slow in taking him down. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the badge award in my window.

I have mixed feelings about the Director 11 encounter. Obtaining the badge is rather annoying unless you have specific ATs/Powersets/Buffs in place. At the same time, I've never been on a Tin Mage that failed. Sure, we didn't get the badge, but we eventually took Director 11 down. We completed the TF, got merits and shards, usually in under an hour.

While I REALLY wanted the badge on Desmodas Siazar, it's still just a badge. I'm willing to help other get it, either by this method or others, but I'm not going out of my way to get the badge on my other characters. It's not even part of an accolade power.

I'm not sure it's really fair to say the encounter is badly designed.

Speaking of the badge itself. Being team-based, in that scope, is badly designed IMO.

The AV is a jerk, but if having to chase him around with mines going off is what a team needs to do, so be it. I haven't had a team quit / TF fail because they couldn't get past this mission.

i dont like the badge being team based either, but with the way they designed it, one person could always just stay outside the building and never even have to worry about hitting the mines

without it being team based, the badge would just be too easy to get as there would be plenty of loopholes to it, so i can see why they made it team based
