The Server Rats! Damn them! How many times have there been posts to use squirrels?

Sorry, but I love my brain very much and I wouldn't do that to it.

They probably didn't read those posts because it was suggested by one of the PvP'ers! :O

LOL Sorry. I felt like burning someone/something.

Me thinks Castle and Ocho was feeding the rats some bad cheese before their departure to greif us.

Ok here's my thing. I've been playing this game since 2004 and it seems that when ever a new issue comes out, a couple of days after there is always a patch to fix it. My question is do they test to see of it will be a problem when they go live with the issue? Seems like it's never the case.

They're absolutely tested. This one in particular was not tested very well, but even the ones that are tested for stupidly long periods of time can have issues.

Test Server != Live Server. What works perfectly fine on Test can work disastrously on Live. That's been proven time and time again.

You know, I'm just glad they had the wisdom to wait until 1/3 of the country was stuck at home with time to actually play task forces before they took the game down with 30 minutes notice in the early afternoon. That way, they not only irritated those who were playing the strike forces, but also people who'd planned to use the late afternoon to get one in before the wife came home.

Seriously, does anyone look at server load before they decide on an emergency fix that only effects people playing at a level where they ought to KNOW to read the "URGENT" messages?

Ummm... does the "TEST SERVER" not imply they test things?

As being in a relationship with an IT guy, i know first hand from the stress that things that are tested perfectly, don't always pan out perfectly when it goes "live".

Its the nature of modifying code. Sometimes something embeded in the code doesnt agree with the new code and creates havoc

It doesn't matter what time of the day it is, nor who is on. Hence the emergency part of the maintenance. It was a hotfix that needed to be applied immediately.

That means nothing. That page is only updated every 15 minutes. The servers are all up and green

Can you tell I'd just started the final Statesman mission when they sent their "oh, by the way..." message? It's nice that there's no snow in Austin, but you people do get NEWS, don't you?
