Storage for Recipes

Economy.

It seems sad to counter a point with one word, but there it is.

With storage for recipes, less would go on the market, probably, and it would be bad.

Not sure if you've looked at the Market, but its bad already. So adding this would only keep it the same IMO. Not saying I agree with the sugg=estion as I craft everything I want to keep so either way it wouldn't bother me.

In all seriousness, if the recipe would be important enough to store in the base, then it's important enough to make the recipe into an IO, which you can already store in the base. Given this, the dev time required to do this would be better spent giving us something that there is no workaround for.

The aspect of market availability should also be considered. If you're just casually hoarding recipes because you might need them someday, the devs (and everyone else who has bids on it) would rather have you put it on the market instead. Part of the reason the market seems out of joint is that hoarding IOs has become much, much easier than it used to be. People are more inclined to squirrel away IOs now that they can email them to an alt that has a personal SG.

We can now hoard thousands of IOs. If the extra step of making people craft IOs before hoarding them causes a larger supply of recipes, it's a good thing for the game.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: The devs flat out told us during I9 beta that they deliberately chose not to give us base recipe storage.

Also considering how many recipes we can store on our accounts we really have no need to be able to store a few paltry recipes in a base.

On each character players can store up to:

Recipe Slots - 25
CH Transaction slots - 22 individual recipes or stacks of 10 identical recipes
Email - 20 global slots

If you multiply those number by the number of characters slots we can have on an account we have the ability to store

NA Account (144-396 characters)

Recipe Slots - 3,600/9,900
CH Transaction slots - 3,168/8,712 (then in stacks of 10) 31,680/87,120

+ the 20 email slots

Even on an EU Account (48-144 characters) (we) players have the ability to store thousands of recipes.

What Forbin Project said.

If you can craft to an IO, why not then craft it? Plenty of IO storage available.

Temp powers or costume item? Not needed to play and can be bought by the bucket loads on the market if not from a store (like jet packs).

Respec? If it is that important, keep it or store on market slot or email. Or make a mule toon and transfer to them.

We have tons of storage. Why do we need more?

Occasioanlly I look.

Although I mostly agree, pretty bad.

How is that answering why we need more storage for recipes?

Salvage racks in bases were reduced and thus limiting storage.

We have a vault in case some one is not in an SG or doesn't trust the base.

You can put things on market slots or mule toons via email or just store in email.

Inspirations? They are quite plentiful as is.

What is so important about recipe storage?

The reason I would like a recipe collector; there are alot of recipes, that nobody is buying, so they are cluttering up the storage at the markets. For example: Invented: Accuracy for level 10, alot of players are selling them, but nobody is buying!

That is why I'd like a recipe collector!

A level 10 generic acc IO recipe? These can be bought from the crafting stations, at a relatively cheap price. Plus, why get a level 10 recipe when you can slot 15's at level 12, which takes very little time to get to.

If this is for generic recipes in general, in my experience with 2 crafters is that the market price is close to what the vendors will buy the recipes for (very generally speaking here). Not worth taking up a market slot if no one is buying a generic recipe.

I agree with the OP, we need recipe storage units for our bases and improved storage capacity from our existing storage solutions. I recommend a wall mounted ATM looking thing or CAD Printer-like thingy for TECH bases, and a Scroll rack or Scrying Pool for Arcane bases.

Would this affect the market? Things are selling for INF cap. The MARKET cannot get worse than that. It just can't. You can't offer more than INF cap and you cannot pick up more than INF cap. So, it is already as bad as it can get. Would it become like that even for the less desireable stuff too? Doubtful, because who really wants that junk? --Well then everyone will just trade off market for HUGE INFS over multiple transactions(payment plan?) then and nothing will be sold on market--Yeah, until someone finishes a mission and needs to dump their stuffz quick-like. Or, someone with a kind soul could offer something for less than INF Cap(O.O!).--Yeah, yeah, I know it's the buyer who purchases for that amount. Whatever.

With the numbers Forbin pointed out(and I nearly always have agreed with you Forbin, but this time...), you think there isn't hoarding going on already? How would adding recipe storage make that any worse? The market already is dealing with having nothing available, then getting some available, then having nothing available again. It goes on constantly.

Why I want recipe storage is for CONVENIENCE. I want to be able to set a supply of recipes for my current alt going for their crafting badges to access when I log them in. Yes, I know that mailing helps with that but 20 at a time, while necessary for RMT limiting purposes, wiffles. And logging and re-logging and re-logging ad nauseum is tiresome and wasteful of my gaming time. Then you reach a daily mail limit, again a RMT limiting thingy, and your efficiency goes right out the door. Also, if your current toon is loaded up you could dump into a base recipe storage for later crafting and get to the next mish on the fly(or the jump,tp, or super speed) and not get slowed down so badly trying to balance your inventory. This is very important to working well while on teams, so you don't slow the team down.

Other people's game time is important too(to me anyway), it's difficult to deal with the slow down involved with crafting and storing rewards while part of a team, and I find, more often than not, that I have to delete a recipe or other reward in order to open space for more. I should not have to delete a reward because I can't carry enough or store enough without stopping to craft even shuffling through all my current options. I would not have to if I could hit my base between mishes and drop the recipes into storage for later crafting. It would also be helpful between alts in your SG and between SG mates who might be working on their crafting badges or IO'n out their enhancement slots. If you crafted the recipe then your alt or SG mate wouldn't be able to use that to get progress for their crafting badges. See, it's a CONVENIENCE and a helpful courtesy amongst SG mates.

tl;dr= I would also like recipe storage solutions for our bases, for CONVENIENCE, please.

Thank you,
Red

Please note that the first thing I said (the short and long answers) was what the devs told us. That doesn't mean I agree with their decision.

The reason I pointed out those numbers was to show that since we got the email feature recipe storage is no longer the critical issue it used to be. Before the email feature bases were a vital means of moving items between characters on the same account on the same server.

As to hoarding I hoped it was obvious that the numbers I posted were showing just how easy it is for people to hoard stuff now without using bases at all.

A matter of convenience is exactly what I think base recipe storage is. Sure it would be nice but it's hardly a neccessity these days and there are a lot of other things I'd rather see addressed first. Even if we restricted the suggestions to things I'd like to see done with just bases it would be low on my list.
