Also, I finished my piece. And since I wouldn't exactly be impartial, I'll leave it to the rest of the entrants to decide if this counts as a "major" change or not, and go with the majority, or allow myself the early points if no one weighs in at all.
See, I dont get what...why is it a supposedly monthly contest, and yet it ends before the month is even 2/3 of the way through? Sure, it evens out in the rest of the month for the next one, but...it's just mildly irritating is all =/

The fact that some of these entries will get more points than other ones that are finished properly makes a mockery out of the entire system, IMO. This contest is no longer about art, it's about playing the game.

It was a bit of an exaggeration.
When the point amounts were set so the person posting first could easily beat the artist with the most votes I was agreed it had ceased to be about art.
If/when the points are more weighted towards the highest vote count earning the most points it becomes mostly about the artz with a side component of strategy thrown in.
How this will play out remains to be seen, if it adds something fun/interesting then great, if not then whomever is hosting next year's FArt can always go back to a pure art contest format.
If we start seeing several artist's start turning in half finished work to get the bonus points then yeah that would be a detractor. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

P.S. No it looks like the contest is being held only on the CoH forums this year and not on DA.
@TBA: Yeah it's always been like that and I thought it was mildly annoying all throughout last year as well. Seems to me there is typically a flurry of votes at the beginning then a few days of nothing then a flurry at the end. I would think the voting could be handled in 3-4 days (rather than a whole week) and the lag time in the middle could be given back to the artists. That's just my opinion though.

There's no reason you can't do art along with everyone else. But as I see it, you have no business being in the actual running with everyone else. I honestly believed that it was going to be difficult to top the previous years nonsensical ongoings and illogical decisions, but congratulations, you're well on your way.
As for being mean? You obviously haven't been paying attention these last years. I don't go stomp on puppies for fun, but when I see someone doing something completely boneheaded, I will speak up.

Suichiro's not wrong about the conflict of interest Bubba (to be fair though it's not like he's never been party to one himself

Participating is one thing but as soon as you used your powers as the host to bend the rules for yourself
you created an issue and I did forewarn you it was likely to come up at some point.
Personally, I'd just say ditch the Early Bird Points. It's a nice idea, but it honestly does make it a little...eh, I dunno. Something about it rankles, y'know?
I'd also argue for setting the dates more within the supposed month. It seems counter-intuitive for the Feb art contest to actually be half in January. Basically, whatever CR said up top
