Nostalgia Chick: The Fifth Element

Douchey's been around for a while. I think he was created for the Nostalgia Critic's Top 11 F***-Ups videos. If you've seen him before, he's not that bad, but I can see how he wouldn't make the best first time impression.

I think Nostalgia Chick is more than a little rusty with the review shtick. Plus, Fifth Element, for all its flaws, wasn't really the best movie for a return review.

MY only beef with it is that I'd love to have seen an extended director's cut or something that didn't leave out a lot of the stuff that was pretty clearly left out. It was a tremendously enjoyable action movie, and just sheer FUN.

Are you serious? Douchey had me laughing because he reminds me of so many doucheys I've met playing MMO's. He's a dead ringer.

I know she's going to school or something full time, but I'm a little confused as to why they keep her doing it when she obviously does not have time for it. You'd think she could manage a once every month or every other week, but it's hard to look forward to stuff she does when it's so infrequent, and that very infrequency keeps her from being very entertaining with it.

The Critic has hits and misses, but even his misses strike me as better than what the Chick has been doing for about the past year. She had a good start, but she's kind of ground down. 5th Element is edge enough on how bad it is, too. It has flaws, but it's fun as well. Movies that have a little bit too much going for them are harder for them to review as well... the Critic even had to admit that Waterworld isn't terrible, just not what it should have been for how much cash went into it. I'd agree with that, but it does kind of make a "poke fun at this movie" review fall flat.

Heck, I actually wouldn't mind him doing more reviews of good movies, to be honest. I actually enjoyed his favorite movies video more than some of his goofy videos. He has a good take on movies, for the most part.

I do like some of the industry critiques she's done, and the Disney vs. Dreamworks videos were good. But yeah, on the whole I think her work on her masters degree is getting in the way of the Nostalgia Chick gig. Not that I think she should quit working on the degree, of course. But perhaps she should hand over the reigns to a stand in so she can focus on her studies and then resume a regular review schedule during her summer break or however her class schedule works.

Also, Fifth Element was a movie I was hoping the Critic would review. I really wanted to hear him make fun of the way Zorg said, "For the cause."
