New Nvidia drivers

Version 266.58 drivers are out. I downloaded them last night (clean install) and am really happy. Without changing any settings for the game, I noticed a framerate improvement and even a crisper brighter look all around. I am very happy with them.

Ok, ok.. so it wasn't as advertised as your thread, but it did help somebody fix a problem! lol

I can confirm that these latest drivers fix my previous issues caused by the 260.99 drivers which included crashing when opening the contact list. Twitchy Bloom behaviour that required me to disable the Bloom setting. An annoying bug that required me to reboot my computer after exiting CoX or the next time I ran it my FPS were significantly reduced. I am extremely happy with these new drivers.

I highly recommend doing a 'clean' install of these drivers. A clean install checkbox is available in the Advanced install option of the drivers.

My experiences since switching to these drivers:

I have a GTS 250. Immediately I noticed an issue. The game went from running at 50fps to 4fps. I fiddled with some settings at first and nothing stood out.

I've reproduced fixing this issue a few times, but there are a couple of things that seem to resolve it in no specific order, and it's generally luck of the draw which one actually resolves it.

If I set my FSAA from 4x to disabled and then back again, this can resolve it.

If I change Environment Reflections, Water Effects or Shadow Quality from High Quality to Disabled and back again, this can resolve it.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening?

We'll see....

I have a GTS 250 and so far no issues that I can see. Framerates stayed the same for me. At least I don't have that annoying red message saying my drivers are out of date anymore.

Definite improvement here. Under the last set, I couldn't run SLI without resetting the whole video system if I exited the game and wished to play again. It used to leave all the graphics behind the US completely black, and run at about 1 frame per ten seconds. Now, it exits and re-runs just fine, even in four-way SLI.

The quality seems good; and I'm getting good framerates even with some modest Ultra-Mode graphics settings.

So, good improvement over the 260.99? Currently have 260.99 with a GTX 275 and have nearly no problems. Nearly.

I have been using these drivers since they came out, no problems and not much difference with 260.99 (SLI GTX 260M here).

I was wondering, people still use jg0001 nVidia suggested settings? I used to change nVidia Control Pannel settings following his advice after every new drivers install. But the suggestions are very old, now game has Ultramode and supports SLI, so I was curious...

Unfortunately, I know nothing of SLI settings, as I tend to avoid dual card configurations unless it's some sort of upgrade. As for settings, I usually just turn down Ambient Occlusion and sometimes shadows. Really depends on CPU and GPU dependency. Unfortunately, I'm at GPU dependency instead of CPU, as I always see my GPU at 90-97% load, unlike my CPU which is at 15-25%. Before my CPU upgrade (from a dual core E8400 clocked at 3.8GHz to an Quad-Core and Hyperthreaded i7-950 clocked at 3.8GHz), it was at 95-100% CPU load.

The only Nvidia control panel settings I DO have changed that affects significant performance is Threaded Optimization, and I have that at Off. If it's On, I lose quite a bit of performance. Well, that was on the E8400. I haven't tested it on i7-950.
