Hero / Villain "only" badges

Hey all,

When GR came out, I turned my lvl 50 stalker into a rogue so he could get blueside explore and history badges. I found that one badge (Edge of Chaos) required you to be a Hero to access; non-heroes weren't allowed to enter Longbow base. (IDK if this applies to vigilantes as well.)

Although I eventually found a workaround (join a mixed team and have them TP you to badge marker), I was wondering if there are any other "exclusive" badges that require you to be full hero / villain to access? (With the obvious exception of alignment badges, of course!)

Black Scorpion's official list.

It's not on that list, but full villain status is required for Jail Bird because it can only be gained in the villain tutorial or through redside Ouro.

Also, getting badges for mission/arc completion without fully switching sides requires teaming with someone else who has the mission. If the badge requires you to be the mission holder, you can't even do that and will have to fully switch to get the badge. Badges I know to require you to be the mission holder:
* Efficiency Expert
* Bloodletter/Mirage/Spider's Kiss/The Stinger, plus the associated gladiator
* Usurper

A few other exclusive ones would be the NPC hero/villains in RV. You have to be Rogue/Villain to take down the hero npc's and vice verse for Villains.

You "could" do the long hog and get "Isolator", but I do believe you might have to be hero for it to be rewarded (as it is a tutorial badge).

The Day Job badges are also amongst this list. You can get progress on them as Vigilante/Rogue, but only get them when you fully cross over.

Also if you do the crossing over there are badges for this (Keeping your alignment for 7 days, doing a morality mission for each step, and coming full circle.

The status of the Respec badges on the other side... I'm a little hazy on those. Hope for more information by the Devs on these (before I go wasting respecs).

For the AE entertainment there is the "doing a mission that is set on Heroic" (works hero only), you wont get the badge as villain. (Atleast I did not get the villain version until I changed alignment)

And then the various Gladiator badges that depends on various badges that are alignment. Example Reaching lvl 10 vill side to get "Wolf Spider Enforcer". Or being held for 10 hours for "Wailer Queen" . These (several more) are only awarded to fully gone over to the other side.

edit: Peeked at the list too late ;D. Thanks.

Hi,

also "Helping Hand" and "Keeper of the Coral" badges for completing the 2 new I19 arcs (Roy Cooling on Blue and I forget on red) require you to be a Hero or Villain.

Thanks to Snow Globe for the following:

You can get those badges in two ways, as an ordinary contact if at the right level and by using the flashback system. However, if you do it the flashback way all Heroes/Villains on the team will get the completion badge, but if you do it teamed up as an ordinary level contact mission, only the mission holder will get the completion badge!

The other thing about the Roy Cooling arc is that if you get teamed up as a Rogue and run it at the proper level you will get the "Leave no one behind" badge (if you rescue them all in the time limit) but not the arc completion badge! I was a bit confused and miffed about this until Snowie explained what had happened.

I am now awaiting the imminent arrival of my last Redside day job badge so I can go back to full Hero and speed run this arc again just to get the completion badge!

Cheers

ty all for the information. I didn't mention it but I'd already run into this problem with one of the day jobs: "What do you mean I haven't earned either Intern OR Wage Slave? I was logged there for 21 days!"

I'd forgotten about Isolator and some of the others. Anyway, thanks for the assistance!

Don't forget that there are some badges that also have level requirements.

For example, Vanguard Recruit. You can take a Level 1 character, and park them in the Vanguard Base for 21 days, but they won't get the Day Job Badge until they hit Level 35, the original level requirement for entering the RWZ.

And that's just stupid, IMO.

I'd forgotten about this but I agree. The original system with hazard zones was you couldn't ENTER until you were a certain level; therefore you couldn't EARN credits you would have to wait to redeem.

Now that the entrance requirement is gone, the badge restriction should be as well. All of my lowbies have earned Intern in PI (except the Praetorians, natch!) because there's no entrance requirement, unlike, say, Dark Astoria (for Mortician badge).

The BIG one of course is all the Praetorian Only badges. Being a loyalist, or resistance, or confirming / switching said allegiance, or listening to the guy in the tutorial babble... probably more I cannot recall, but the point is, no one who started as a hero OR villain can acquire any of them.... yet.

There are only four Praetorian-only badges without a Primal-only equivalent (for instance, Praetoria's Daughter doesn't count because it's the same as VIP/Destined One, and any given character can only get one or the other):

* Avid Reader (tutorial badge)
* Loyalist (choose Loyalist on a moral choice mission)
* Moral High Ground (complete 5 moral choice missions)
* Resistance Member (choose Resistance on a moral choice mission)

Ok, so I guess I DIDN'T forget any.

Is there a consolidated list anywhere of the badges?

I dont consider Black Scorpion's list to be a Hero-Only or Villain-Only list.

There is a very short list of Hero-only badges, such as the 7 day timer of alignment reinforcing, at least I assume there is a Hero one. Some were referred to here in this thread, some werent mentioned by name (like the Hero mode AE). I know there are also Vigilante-only ones, like the 7-day timer one.

But it really would be nice to see a specific list. I'm planning to go Vigilante tonight for a long-haul switch for badge purposes, but I'm getting cold feet. I'd kinda like to knock out all the Hero ones that I can't earn as a Vigilante I become Vigilante status. Because once I do, I'll stay a Vigilante for maybe 6 months until I'm sure I'm ready to become a Villain, etc.

Thanks for any help or list or Hero only, Vigilante only, Villain only and Rogue only badges.

Lewis

Did you need to nercopost to this thread when you asked the same question in a similar thread?

Sorry, I was in team speak discussing it with a friend and kinda on obsessive compulsive auto-pilot in a couple of threads, not to mention in-game channel discussion. I didn't even quite realize I'd posted in 2 threads until it was done.

Consider me properly chastised and penitent.

Thanks,

Lewis

You can see my answer in the other thread. Short form: don't worry about it.
