Stop farming, PVP IO drops are Perfect the way they are!

Based on the opinions of others and my own attempt to actually build a pvp toon, I was falsly led to believe that there is something wrong with the current PVPIO drop rates. I made a foolish suggestion that I thought might be helpful, and was chastised for it. From this experience I share the truths that I have learned:


the Chance to drop PVP IOs is perfect the way it is for the following reasons:

1. PVPIOs are ULTRA RARE. They are designed to be harder to get than normal rare drops. The fact that you are having a hard time getting them is proof that the drop rate and the RNG are working as intended.

2. They are a luxury item. Just like not everyone drives a top of the line Rolls Royce or Lamborghini, not everyone is going to have PVP IOs. They're not needed.

3. You want a guaranteed PVP IO, stay on one "full" alignment and work on your merits, and spend the rest of the time PVPing. Merits = guaranteed PVP IO, PVPing = chance for one.

Why wait longer than you have to, to get what you want. In a video game.

PvP IO's aren't ultra rare, they're just rare, indicated by there color. Purples are ultra rare or whatever you wanna call it, yet they are even easier to obtain.

Sorry, but PvPers need boatloads of these for their builds, so they'll either farm them or marketeer for them...either way they're going to make their way to whoever wants them.

Here ya go, my blaster build uses 25 PvPIO's, I don't ask farm for them, I use the market when I have time. Now just how long would that take if I were, to say, do tip missions to get the hero/villian merits to outfit just that toon? Now lets multipy that by about 25 or more toons......

You also need to figure that "the way they are now" has a lot to do with the influence of farmers. I don't know what percentage of all PvPIO drops are collected by farmers, but I would guess that it is pretty high, maybe as high as 80% and certainly more than half.

Remove farmers and you devastate the supply, thereby raising the prices, and making the building of toons -especially PvP toons- even tougher.

I know that when I'm cruising through a PvP zone to get nukes or badges, and I see a farm, I don't break it up. I figure the reason why many of those PvPIOs are still in eight digits is because of the supply they generate. I'll probably have to tip mish my way to a Glad Armor Unique, but lots of the other stuff has a decent supply on the market.

that and the fact they were created for rewards for pvping to...um encourage pvp?? io sets designed to have dual bonuses that don't malefactor down in lower zones....that you get as a reward for ...dundun dahhhh pvping.

The reason they drop rate is hosed is because Lord Voldemort got mad people were io farming. Because that never happens with inf or purples....no never.


I honestly believe they hired an intern who sits at a desk with a 20 sided die and rolls it every 5 minutes - if it comes up 17 three times in a row he pushes a button that gives a pvp io rec to a random player in one zone - then he goes back to editing Vex's posts and sending me warnings about mentioning other EM EM Ohs - then an hour later he starts rolling again...

It's like you're sitting in their cubicles!

The very fact that PvP IOs are available for purchase from alignment merit vendors (despite several complaints during the closed beta) is proof that the developers are sticking to their guns and continuing to **** all over PvP and the PvP population.

(Why can I not trade in my rep for purples? It's the exact same idea.)

OK, then what if chance for PVPIO drops were opened up to PvE defeats?

That way, they would drop like purples.

Would that solve the problem?

Yeah. But it might swing the issue to the opposite extreme as well. It's fine to keep a PvP reward to PvP kills.. but either the drop rate needs to be increased, or there needs to be other ways to obtain them like Mac's suggestion. Until then, we need to hope the farmers keep farming.

400 rep should get you a pvp io then reset to 0.

All that would do is change the method to the farming.

People still PVP?

It's fun to kill the farmers, especially the ones that do it on the high ledges feeling safe. Knocking the afk people off of the building and then parking a heavy on them at the bottom is like stealing the farm.
