VEATs and You

I thought I read in the GR Beta that Praetorians indeed don't unlock EATs. But Paragonwiki seems to contradict me.
Hello, forums. It's been a while.
My search-fu may have not been good enough, but I could not find an existing answer to this question, so here goes: As all epic archetypes are supposed to "unlock" at 20 now instead of 50, should I find it strange that my 26 stalker did not receive the appropriate message? Or do red-side archetypes that start life in Praetoria ignore that unlock? |

I already have VEATs unlocked so I can't test this myself. They do indeed unlock at level 20 and I believe you need to be from primal earth to unlocked them. Simple way to find out is since your toon was created in Prea, can you make a VEAT? If you can't then you need to roll a villain out in primal earth and get that toon to 20.
That's what I recall from Beta too, people came to the conclusion that the unlock occurred at the level ding of 20 and was dependent on the characters faction at that point, so side switching and Praetorians are out of luck. Part of the confusion could be that people still get the you have unlock EATs text, even if they've already unlocked EATs, I even got it on my Praetorian characters, and those who are inclined to test and post to Wiki are more likely to be the established players who already had the EATs unlocked.

I cannot, which is why I started this; on the other hand, I also wasn't sure if I wasn't *supposed* to, or if something wasn't right. But everyone seems to have cleared that up, so thanks.

Wouldn't they badically be Widows with DB or BS instead of Claws, and no Mask?

But, yeah. PEATs could be really awesome, and PPD (Justicar/TEST) and Syndicate (Sword Master/Suit) look like two easy factions to base off.
If they give Praetorians a Devouring Earth Epic, as some people suggest, would that make it PEAT Moss?

Well, with CoH, I figure a Syndicate EAT is my only chance at what could be an awesome Dual Pistols/Martial Arts/Defense Secondary (so yes, akin to VEATS).

If it doesn't happen then, not likely to ever happen.

I think its more likely that the PEAT options would be PPD and Resistance. I've often made suggestions during the I19 beta conversations that the PPD powerset is one I would love to get my hands on, and a new ranged weapon set that the Resistance bosses use would also be a welcome addition. The Syndicate seem to use standard PC primary sets, so they wouldnt add anything new to the game.

Or maybe one based on the Resistance heavy gun dudes--high-recharge, high-damage, some smallish inherent AoE, like a walking artillery battery for the primary.

If the devs were interested in a Resistance EAT, though, I think they'd have to make up a defensive secondary, since there doesn't seem to be one that the critters actually use. Maybe something akin to Willpower secondary but with glaring differences (e.g., no fast healing/quick recovery but keep the high pain tolerance with something like a 12.5% hp buff).
Aside from their crazy cloaking and targeting drone?

Prior to this I had unlocked the VEATS but not the hero-side.
