Misbehaving Demons?

Not sure if it's just me but i've noticed that even despite my ridiculous microing, demon pets just do not follow orders. Ok they attack, but soon after that they will sprint off, forgetting all about what they were supposed to be doing, then when i call them back, they stand there for a good 10 seconds before finally making their way back. Only to do it again as soon as they see another enemy.

It's really been putting me off my Mastermind, because i seemignly can't even run missions on +2 x3 without pets running off and killing themselves even if all i ever do is repeatedly press my follow macro.

Anyone else been having similar problems? I never had these problems with my Thugs.

Same exact problem here, it's putting me off my demon/pain as well. I star seeing red bars and suddenly a few of my pets full on sprinted into the next group. WTF? I think I broke my petfollow key as well.

Haven't played Demons, but last night on an MoSTF of all things my Bots decided they would pull that trick a few times so maybe it is a new bug?

It really wouldn't take that much effort to put MM controls in the right place. Maybe this is the calm before the storm and there's a huge pet overhaul in the works

The calm before the storm would indicate that soon there's gonna be some supermassive bug that makes pets completely ignore any commands and instantly find the closest group of unaggroed mobs to kill themselves in..

Man i'm loving masterminmds now.. :/

Is it because your in aggressive mode?

hardly ever use aggressive and aggressive mode would probably at most only make the demons chase after a fleeing foe, not just run off to an entirely different mob for no reason.

I haven't played a mm regularly for several months now. So I can't confirm or deny any problem that you may be having. I do know a trick though that may help you as a mastermind in general. I always put my pet attack command button in the tray with all of my clickies and spam it with the rest of my attacks. That way they are always on the same target that I am. See if that helps.

Something similar happened with my zombies. I charge them into a mob, then suddenly I see one all by itself sprinting toward a far, out of the way mob.

I don't think its a laughing matter. If you have the end and the power slots to do so, why not. I also know some tankermind builds that use them along with provoke to keep aggro.

I use them on my demon/therm -res is always nice.

I'm having the same problem as well. I could have them attack one target in a group and the moment it's dead one or two demons run off into groups farther into the mish. I've even had them ignore my goto defensive command and take off in different directions but they eventually return.

Im not having any issues with my Demons/Poison

I have my keyboard hotkeyed like crazy though, so Im constantly switching their actions. So far they do what I tell them without ever doing anything else, unless I purposefully let them go on a rampage.

Poison is great for allowing them to go ape wild, because it melts things down easy peasy.

I did however have this issue with my zombies.

This is a real issue, and I have seen it with my thugs MM. Years ago I used to play MMs quite a bit, with most of my experience coming with a mercs/traps MM and I never saw this kind of behavior (not that they were geniuses before). The pet AI was certainly different then.

Now, for some reason my thugs will decided to just spring off in random directions. I even notice my bruiser sprint AWAY from mobs at times. I'm not sure if the AI is making him sprint away so that he can use his ranged attack or what, but it does get very annoying.

Also, I don't notice the problems so much when I play solo or in confined spaces, but I notice it bigtime on outdoor maps (like mayhem missions) and when there are a lot of mobs around (big teams).

Hmmm. Is your pets morale breaking for some reason?

Enemies have been quite twitchy for a few months now. Castle posted that as far as he was concerned they were working as designed but it seems to me that enemies have been much flightier over the last few months.

I wonder if the same AI issues are applying to pets as well?

I'm noticing this too. For some reason, it appears to happen more frequently on open maps, although, I haven't done a cave map mish in a while. The AE mish I did last night made me want to strangle a dev.

- The laws of science were, first, God's laws. We didn't make them, we just gave them a name...likely not the name their creator gave them.
- No, no. Humans made them. The same way we made gravity, the atomic bomb, Cheetos, babies, and water.

May also be worth checking Real Numbers and comparing a Pets Perception to your own, maybe it got accidently shifted by an order of magnitude from a recent patch?

Yeah actually that's when it is at it's worst, in an open map. Closed in maps seem to be ok, or at least, they don't often run too far, but they are still keen on running to different corners of the room just to keep out of range of my force field and heals.

I've also noticed that when running on missions with lowered difficulty, like +1 x2, they aren't so eager on running off. Bump up it to something like +0 x8 and you'd be lucky to see them pull 3 attacks before they're running off. Add an outdoor map to the mix, and you have to be constantly on your macros to gain any form of control.

Last night i ran some missions on +4 x2, everything seemed not too bad, occasionally one might run off and come back, even did an outdoor map, still wasn't as bad despite each group roughly taking the same time to kill on +4 x2 as on +0 x8.

Ok. I was horribly wrong!!!! While I was not having the issues mentioned above save with the zombies, my demons are now doing exactly what you are describing, even by placing them passive and then makeing them defensive and commanding them a lot.

It seems their just doing much of their own thing now.
