Is there anyone who's NOT changing a character for inherent Fitness?
It is only being "forced" on new characters or characters you choose to respec. All your existing characters can continue to run slower, jump lower, heal slower and recover endurance slower.
I suspect that the very, very few of you who don't want inherent Fitness are not worth the Devs' time to make it optional. This is a change that has been requested since Beta. This game tries to provide a huge amount of customization, but there is always the cost/benefit consideration -- whether the few people who want (or don't want) a particular option is worth spending the time making it optional. If the Devs had unlimited resources, I'm sure they would love to let you choose whether or not to take Fitness as an inherent. |
The only reason we got it as a mandatory scheme is because the people whining to get it were so loud the Devs erred on the side of "gezz, they ALL seem to want it so let's give it to them regardless of the consequences." The Devs always OVERCOMPENSATE for things like this so the fact that they overreacted here sadly doesn't surprise me a bit.
I will never accept the idea of LOSING a choice of character design to be an overall "good" thing regardless what the masses think they want. Anyone arguing for the idea that they DON'T want to keep a choice like this just makes me cringe in amazement.

I plan to respec three or four characters to account for Inherent Fitness. The extra powers are appreciated, but it's just not worth the effort to respec every single one of my characters.
I'll eventually get around to respecing the rest piecemeal, but not any time soon.
My enthusiasm for creating and leveling new characters just got a violent upward bump, though
I'm not respeccing any of my toons.
I can count on one hand the number of toons I have on over 3 full servers that have the fitness pool, and still have fingers left over. I'll put a single enhancement in the slots for health and stamina. And that's it. I've never had to change my desired build to accommodate fitness and I'm not starting now... |
So, I'm sort of wishing I never had taken it now. I'm finding taking all of my primary and secondary powers to be pretty fun. There are are a lot of little powers I never felt were worth it before, which in fact, were worth a try.
I didn't read most of this thread so sorry if its been said already but I plan on take stealth pool on toons that need the slots for other powers to mule more LoTG + recharge.

Actually, this is not true. I copied over a character without Fitness, and they were given Inherent Fitness.

It's only characters who have a taken a power from the pool that will need to respec to get it for 'free'.
Out of 70+ characters I'm planning to respec one of them and that one only because I wasn't thinking and slotted my performance shifter chance to gain endurance enhancement in the wrong power. Since I can't take back that last move and since this is one of the 3 out 70+ characters I have that actually has Fitness I'll respec him so I can move that one enhancement around. As it is I really don't have 3 - 4 powers that I even want to take to replace the 3 fitness powers. ::shrug::
But it's MY sadistic mechanical monster and I'm here to make sure it knows it. - Girl Genius

The only reasonable argument against the inherent Fitness pool I have heard, and one I still find dubious, is that it affects how players move. Swift adds just a pinch over 5 mph to runspeed, a little more than Accelerate Metabolism. In all my years of playing, I have never seen anyone avoid AM because of the way it alters movement speeds, but when this debate comes up people raise this issue. Hurdle offers a more significant change, but one that from my experience I've always found beneficial. I, for one, hate getting hang up when jumping over fences and the resultant slide up and down it's length.

I will have to respect all of them!
The Resistance has boobs too, and better hair!
All of my characters save one, who never had fitness and only needs a bit more stamina, will be respeced. One of the bennies of inherent fitness is that I'll be able to fit Recall Friend into every build now.
