Random Alternating Animations
I was actually thinking of redoing a Blaster in I19 with like 2 or 3 identical costumes that only differed from each other by having different combinations of the new/old animations. The basic idea was that I could manually switch costumes from time to time to "simulate" your idea of random animations.
I'll sign this idea because it would be cool if you could set it to randomly choose different animations automatically. It would add a touch of realism to our motions.

The results are decidedly so-so.
I've got one character with 5 identical costumes except for color and power colors (she uses a chromatic/rainbow type theme). I've bound Healing Flames with a costume change so every time she uses HF, her colors cycle.
I've got another character that uses different swords and changes each time Dull Pain fires. I had it originally tied to Reconstruction, but that was being used too often.
I even had one character (since deleted) who was using a Positive/Negative energy theme with his main costume in White/Blue and his super-group costume in Red/Black and would switch back and forth between each use of the larger blasts.
(that toon got deleted after the super-group-mode stability fix was put in place a while back)
The biggest problem with this approach is the enforced delay between costume changes. If you attach the costume change to something that happens too often, then everything gets out of synch and a change may not happen, but the macro keeps on moving, so you skip costumes (which is OK for some themes, but not OK for others).

Yeah I've long since given up trying to link costume changes to power activations, especially since the costume change emotes were introduced. No matter how careful I was I'd run into syncing troubles, more-so if I tried to use them in combat situations.
My "costume change to alternate animations" idea wasn't going to be linked to any specific power activation. I figured I'd change costumes for this once every few minutes so I wouldn't have any trouble with the 30 second change timer. Still at the very best this idea was going to be a poor manual workaround for something that ought to be made "randomizable".
Hopefully the Devs will consider this idea.

So this idea isn't mine, I saw some one else suggest it (I forget who) and I though it deserved it's own thread.
Super Strength and Martial Arts already have alternating animations for some of its powers. And soon the blasting sets will have the same options. It would be great if in choosing the options for animations, you could choose a Random Bright or Random Dark option, so that when you activate the power, the power plays one of the 2 animations already available.
For Example:
In the super strength the tier 2 power "Punch" has the following options.
Original
Bright
Dark
Bright Cross
Dark Cross
The suggestion is they add 2 more options
Bright Random
Dark Random.
So when you select bright Random, you get the color effects you choose, but the power either does the original, or the Cross, each time you press it, it would do either of them so it adds more variety to your move set.
This would be especially nice since all sorts of blasters, defenders and corruptors are going to get some alternate animations soon.
And the tech is already in the game for this. We see it with the Tier 1 Dual Pistols power that has 4 animations it fires off at random. Or with Shield Defense since half the time it does a kick, and the other half of the time it does a hit with the shield. It should take minimal effort to just take the rig that lets alternate animations fire off from the same power, and apply it to the powers that already have, more than one animation for us to choose from.
