Would KM go well with FA?

Hey all, title sorta says it all. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to make a KM/FA Scrapper yet. It seems like stacked Power Siphons would go very well with Firey Embrace and really add some major damage. I also thought that the -dmg and basic status effects from KM might help FA with survivability somewhat, but I'm not sure.


Has anyone tried to (or has already) make a KM/FA Build? What are your feelings on it?

Mainly because I'm upset that everyone stole my idea about KM/Nrg Aura.... So I rolled a KM/FA instead. Don't steal mah idea!



Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

I have a KM/FA at 36 and have to admit I'm not too impressed. Still waiting to IO him out, but feel he is the least survivable in my set of Melee toons (Spines/Regen Scrap, DB/WP Scrap, BS/Shield Scrap, Stone/Invul Brute, WM/SR Brute)...

Anyone have a build I can take a peak at?

I've been wanting to make a kin/fire scrapper since GR hit, finally came up with a concept and costume recently and rolled him the other day. Only level 13, but it's fun so far. Fiery Aura's AOE should really help out for damage output on large teams, and the set's single target punch seems pretty respectable. I'm figuring to build, as much as I can, for S/L defense and recharge (getting Power Siphon and Fiery Embrace up as much as possible being a high priority). Anyone put together a build for that sort of thing yet?

KM should be a decent pairing with Fiery Aura. Blazing Aura can help supplement KM's AOE, and KM's stuns and KD can help Fiery Aura with its survivability. I would also think Power Siphon and Fiery Embrace together could be quite nice (+damage boosts the damage Fiery Embrace grants to your attacks, so that could be 20 seconds or so of a nice damage burst).

Layering defense and recharge on to Fiery Aura is quite beneficial to its survivability, and of course, more recharge makes KM even better as well. So those will be good things to go for when creating a build for IO sets.

In addition to what others have pointed out, don't forget you can use power siphon to build up to 125% damage, then hit burn. Makes up for KM's poor aoe abilities I think.

I've teamed with a few of them, and they seemed to put out some serious damage. Of course FA isn't as stout as other secondaries with straight SO slotting, but with some smart IO choices, it can hold up just fine.
I went with Claws/FA on a brute, and have been very satisfied with my damage output.

How about this?? This is for i19 Brawl would have Health and Rest would have Stamina Gets to 42.9% s/ldefense. Worried about end management. Gives up a lot of the recharge bonsues which you normally want for healing flames though.

Also realized that if I took a Rech Redux from Hasten and get the PVP Def unique I'd be over the softcap.

Interesting approach. I'm not convinced that it's worth giving up that much recharge (particularly in power slotting) for defense. There's room for a couple more Luck of the Gambler global recharge IOs, at least. I will say, endurance management can be made a lot easier by slotting a common Cardiac Boost in the Alpha Slot at 50 (alternately a Spiritual Boost does nice things for recharge).

I like defense, but I feel like I'd rather have, say, 35% defense and much better power slotting.

S/L defense drops to 36.2%, but recharge on a number of powers is improved significantly. Also added a second knockback IO to better resist stronger effects, Winter's Gift slow resistance, swapped out Weapon Mastery for Body Mastery in order to add Physical Perfection and address endurance concerns. Assume 6-slotted Brawl to be Stamina filled with Efficacy Adaptor for additional recharge.

I'm still not really crazy about this build... I'd like to have Rise of the Phoenix, and better recharge slotting for Power Siphon.

On reflection, here's one I like better. All powers are slotted to function well in and of themselves, with 40.7% S/L defense, 48.8% global recharge, and probably a deep and abiding desire to add a Cardiac Boost in the Alpha Slot.

9783_Dollar_Man, I have adapted your build for a Kin/FA brute which I am planning to run. I changed it around a bit, got just a smidgeon more defense, but managed to knock down the endurance costs a bit (perhaps one might be able to use the Recharge Alpha Slot instead of the Endurance Reduction).
