What annoys you about your pets?

What annoys me the most is how ninjas will run all over the place. How squishie they are, even if they are supposed to do the most melee damage they never live long on their own to do it. If I could redo ninjas I would totally get rid of all range attacks, give genin eagles claw and the new cobra strike. Jounin would get flashing steel and lotus drops, oni would get corrupter thermal shields and heals. The epic pool for masterminds would all have a gestalt power to combine like Voltron in some way. Ninjas would all commit suppa ku and their souls absorb into the Oni and form Onimusha. Would last for 10 minutes with a 30 minute recharge. Something bad *** like this is what I want. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNNqHxiEuTQ

Bump and Grind Bane/SoA
Kenja No Ishi Earth/Empathy Controller
Legendary Sannin Ninja/Pain Mastermind
Entoxicated Ninja/PSN Mastermind
Ninja Ryukenden Kat/WP Scrapper
Hellish Thoughts Fire/PSI Dominator

Thank You Devs for Merits!!!!

A new one I've discovered since I've started to be able to afford decent IO sets for my toons- THERE ISN'T ANYTHING DECENT FOR PETS!

Pet damage IO sets give lousy bonuses, most so bad that no one bothers with them at all, leaving us to slot our pets with HO's and regular, non-set IO recipes. Do the devs feel that we are already so awesome we don't need IO bonuses? I've noticed that Dom/troller sets are garbage as well. Blasters and melee toons get all these fabulous sets that boost regen 12% and recharge rates 6.75%, and we get nothing even remotely as useful.

The proof of an IO set's value is how much people are willing to pay for it's components - Pet Damage IO sets are trash that no one wants. The salvage is more valuable.

My robots like to stand BEHIND ME and fire, and then after drawing the aggro to me, they run into melee range to shoot, thus getting themselves killed....

Granted, I'm still learning these things, but it's always fun to hear the Mastermind of the group shouting "OH GOD! I'M GONNA DIE!" as they run out of the room with half the mobs chasing them.

Blood Mandate is a great defence bonus set - in fact if I'm not mistaken it's the ONLY set to have 3 defence bonuses in it (5% to AOE and 3.75% to F/C is massive) and then the recovery bonus to boot

The recharge intensive pet sets are pretty great too, with their recovery & recharge bonuses, and then some extra goodies added in.

My only issue with some of the sets is the vast number of mez protection bonuses where I think most of them are not really needed, and its a shame the purple set doesn't have an accuracy or recharge bonus - but then who 5 slots it anyway?

and on the pet side of it you have 2x 5% def and 2x 10% resist bonuses (if you can slot all 4 that is)

That's the ongoing Pet AI bug, which is STILL unfixed.

Probably the worst thing affecting MMs at the moment. Any and all pets will attempt to close to melee range, even if they really shouldn't.

Of course I love it on my Plant/Emp controller, but Illusion is badly affected by it too.

Hopefully i19 has a fix for it in there somewhere (although I wouldn't hold my breath)

It's not a bug, it's WAI. The bug is that you used to be able to GOTO your pets to a spot and they'd stay there for the most part. I know the protector bots would run up to a mob to cast force field at it, but it was only the protector bots.

Now GOTO is useless.

I wish they'd revert pet AI back to pre issue 17 and I wish they'd fix the bots missile swarm but it ain't gonna happen, no matter how much we complain.

I'm pretty sure something like Phantasm (who has a grand total of 0 melee attacks) running into melee range is a bug. The Devs may have intended the current set-up for Demoos (which is when it was introduced I think) but it's had bad knock-on effects on other pets and has to be considered a bug, regardless of the devs intentions for it.

Pet AI is now screwy and unsuited for purpose, especially for Controllers. That's a bug, regardless of what the devs think (remember these are the same devs who took 6 months and a post in the scrappers forum to realise they had grossly overpowered Shield Charge when they made a change to it, they are human and nowhere near infallible).

I rarely play my MM because of the AI melee bug, and when I do I end up switching to another character after about 5mins because I get so annoyed with it. He now just sits hero side collecting Day Job badges.

The brute in the Thugs set. I wish the guy would go ahead and run into the fight, instead he will stand there and throw rocks at stuff. I have to use two petcom commands. One to get the rest into weapons range, and another to get the brute into the middle of the mob.

this makes me want my money back, or, at least some type of "sorry you wasted your time, here's a lvl transfer"

it when my bots... they run in circles whilst the enemies are beating me down. I have the enemy targeted, I am clicking the attack command, but my bots would rather run laps around the invisible floor lamp that only THEY can see, rather than Stop, aim, SHOOT.

My mm is shelved.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

The new pet AI has made my zombie MM a lot more fun to play, I'll probably take him to 50 now.

I no longer have to micromanage my tier 2 pets, they now charge in and use those nice melee attacks. The zombies, lich and fluffy seem about as effective as they used to be so it's a big win for that toon.

My beloved lvl50 bots/traps has gone from "steamroller" to "pretty decent". There's a ton of defence and mitigation in a mature bots/traps, I can still keep my suddenly kamikaze protector bots alive even though the fights last much longer because of the assault bot "changes". I'd hate to be levelling a new bots MM today though.

For the Pet Damage sets Blood Manadate is pretty much the only one with decent set higher set bonuses. I can see slotting a few from the other sets for the 2 and 3 piece bonuses but I can't see slotting the entire set. It would be nice to get some pet sets with a wider variety of useful set bonuses (or at least some recharge). The recharge intensive pet sets are much better since they both have a recharge bonus for 4 pieces and a defense bonus for 6 but of course the core MM pets can't slot them.

I hate the way the pets scatter. One will go 20 feet to my right, another 25 feet left and behind me, yet another 10 feet on other side of the spawn point (in LOS of new spawn...).

I wish there was a "suck it up and deal with it" mode, where they'd just stay put in caltrops or fire patches and still attack.

MMs are my favorite AT, by a long shot. I love playing buff/debuff sets and I love playing RTS games. An MM is sort of a way to combine the 2 in this game. However, I'm done with them. I'm not making new MMs, it's just too frustrating. I'll still bring out my old ones now and then, especially my 2 "main" MMs, but no more newbies.

Hmmm.... little things that bother me about pets

- My bots running into melee range all the time.
- To much micro manage. Pets need to be less squishy.
- Needs to be an easier way to give pet inspirations.

Zombie vomit. Really? They couldn't just have toxic breath or even at least spit at things, it has to be vomit? Well I've decided that my zombies don't vomit, they breathe on things. That horrid sound is them... um... exhaling. Don't shatter my dreams!
Oh, and if my robots KB everything and cause mass chaos one more time, I'm going to scream and throw things at them.

You know, stuff like that. I kinda wanna ask other ATs which mastermind pets annoy them and why, but I don't think I should post in 11 other archetype boards.
So, what annoys you about YOUR pets?
1. They keep getting in my way when I try to click on things.
2. They enjoy blocking my line of sight during fights.

The fact that you guys are in here complaining about your idiotic minions demonstrates conclusively that the Mastermind is the most successful AT at making its players feel like the comic book characters they're playing.
